It is heavy! I understand all your sentiments Ceci. 😢And do not get tired of reacting to slavery documetaries. What you are reacting to we were not taught and still not taught in history lessons at schools in Kenya. The books we read were all written by English authors. It is painful because though my great parents were not sold, they had to regard the white man as the boss. That’s in the highlands in the middle, south west of Kenya. Now Eldoret. We are all learning and no shame or feeling wierd about expressing your views. Cheers to anyone who likes to learn and understand the past just because you need to know.

This is how slavery in Africa worked: There were various Kingdoms & Chiefdoms in Africa that were at war with each other for territory & resources. In most West Africa, conquered people would become slaves to the conquerors & sold to Arab traders in exchange for exotic goods and guns. Arab traders would then sell the slaves to European traders and shipped to Americas. But slavery is not confined to the African continent only, it happened all over the world. Communities that weren't well organized militarily would get captured & get enslaved by a dominant community. This dates back to the biblical times where slavery was even exalted

Ibn Said came from a culture that enslaved millions of Black Africans and sold them in the Islamic Trans Saharan Slave Trade. It is ironic that he was taken into slavery by Europeans. Only a small number of Muslims were taken into slavery by Europeans. There were treaties between England, the Arab Sultan of Morocco, and the Ottoman Caliphate. England and other Europeans were in partnership with Muslims in the slave trade.

"Then there came to our place a large army, who killed many men, and took me, and brought me to the great sea, AND SOLD ME TO THE CHRISTIANS who bound me and sent me on board a great ship." Omar Ibn Said met the Christians on the beach. They were there waiting for prisoners to buy. Omar Ibn Said was therefore captured by MUSLIMS.

Agreed the African tradition of slavery is reprehensible. People unfortunately are still traded in Africa and 75% of those at the time of Said were sent to Arabia where 90% were dead within in a few years. Please research the horrific history of slavery in Africa.

Come-on, pastor Clay. Are you insinuating that only 35% of those Africans enslaved at the time of Sa'id were shipped to the entire Western world? We need some truthfulness here.
