The wrapper that the groom was putting on is called Akweteh. Its a fabric woven by a few communities in Anambra and Aba in Abia state and its been for hundreds of years. Most people confuse it with the Kante fabric of Ghana. It is not. It is Akwete

You should watch more Nigerian wedding, cos everyone has her or his own team that their wedding is based on, this wedding is just a traditional wedding from what I find out, it can be simple like this, it can be huge, and thereafter comes the church wedding, this is but a simpletraditional wedding, you can find much more from different tribes of Nigeria on KZbin.

Igbos traditionally live in communities. It's an egalitarian society!!! Marriages like child rearing and other things is a community affair. Invitations are not issued. Any passersby walks in and partakes!!!

This is the traditional wedding (ịgba nkwụ) of my people, the Igbo. It seems all these is being done in the palace of the Igwe of the town, that is, the king. I hear a lot of nice proverbs too. Example: ochie dibịa chụọ àjà ọ dị ka enyere ya ndị mmụọ n'aka. Translation: When an old traditional medicine man exercises his spiritual expertise, it appears as though he gave it directly to the spirits. Meaning: when someone who is experienced in something does it, it'll come out as perfect is if it were done by divine beings. In Igbo traditional marriage, a couple is officially married the moment the bride carries a cup of wine (mostly palm wine) to find her husband and he accepts and drinks from the cup and they both go to the bride's dad and family elders to be blessed.
