The deal with health care in the US for the common people, it doesn't just sound like an obscene bussiness for medical & pharmaceutical corporations. It almost sounds like capitalism trying to get rid of the weak & poor to resolve unemployment the hard way. Being a bit 'Socialist' is not always that bad. At the end the USA is already doing that, forcing people to pay taxes that end up sustaining US's defence industry & military personnel.

Yeah, Spain's healthcare system is affordable and efficient. Highly-trained doctors who study an average of 5 to 6 years of university studies, then pass the MlR exam. Unfortunately, some politicians would like to privatize it so that they partner with healthcare companies to get a slice of the market share. Many citizens are against it and are called nasty words like comunist, etc., when in reality they just defend the provisión of this service by the public sector. Most doctors work for public sector hospitals. If you go to a private sector hospital the cost would have been higher.

One of the best things about public healthcare is it puts such a strong competition the private medical sector has to lower the prices or nobody but the extremely rich would use it and then it wouldnt be profitable. In USA without public healthcare the private business can jack the prices up all they want, what are you gonna do? You cant just say "fuck it ill go public even if its a bit slower".

It’s nice to see that our taxes are used to take care of sick tourists. At some point someone will have to say basta.
@gattetta5 ай бұрын
They did pay for the visit (which we don't); the medicine wasn't subsidized the same way as ours (my treatment is expensive AF, reported >3500€/trimester paid by the state, and i never had to pay more than 10€ for a montly supply of aptiom, vimpat and rivotril); if it wasn't enough, it isn't "our taxes" it was also their taxes, they had paid VAT on everything they bought. And also, they didn't came here to benefit from our healthcare system, they were here and her partner got sick and went to the doctor, that's what everyone should do if they get sick on vacation, they will get treatment and could help to prevent the spread of foreign strains of virus.
@mathewvanostin71185 ай бұрын
The reason for that: its harder for a mean future governement to privatize healthcare if it has a true human right status And if gov attempt a privatization move. They will probably just exclude tourist/expats from the almost free healthcare (politician always do a small step by step action for their plans) Citizen will keep their benefits and will have time to roll back those policies Its the same tactic as Norway/Germany with free university. They afraid one day a future governement will privatize universty So they make it almost free even to foreigners. To make it true human right. And also use them as a shield (first to be sacrificed in case of privatization. Instead of citizens)
