Realistic fiction is a fictional story that takes place in the real world with a real setting and situations. Like writing about the world we live in, rather than making one up. Which is hard, when the characters themselves are fictional. But the situations and problems they experience are like ours. (Paying taxes, Breakups, Fighting, Emotional Searching, Death) And can add a form of solidity and relatability to a story.

What's interesting is that American dad (as well as family guy) were inspired by all in the family, which was a show in the 70's notable for pushing leftist agendas. The main character was archie bunker, a character who was predjudice to anyone who wasn't a straight, Anglo-Saxon straight protestant conservative. The writers made him to be a character to be unlikable and make fun of conservatives but it ironically backfired on them because many in middle America actually related to him and became, and still is, one of the most popular characters in TV history

I don't get that they want theor own children... Jesus Christ the number of people who agree with Stan is shocking. His opinion about Greg & Terry having children is an exaggerated joke, not intended to be serious or even necessarily as the right thing. So much for my faith in humanity. I literally couldn't give a flying fuck about whether it's a mother & father, two mothers/fathers, a single parent of any gender, a poly relationship or whatever raising a child. Partly the fact that I have that potential to raise children in an environment that isn't necessarily hetero-normative, but the only damn thing that matters is love and care. After working with kids for several years the only thing I'd ever wish for any child is that they're appreciated, loved and kept safe by anyone who sincerely wants to do so.
