The Blackhawk apparently did NOT have its transponder on, and was designated as a “PAT” (Priority Air Transport) which means that there was a very high ranking Military Official on board the helicopter. It is unknown how many were on board.

For those going to ask about TCAS, TCAS does not give an RA below 1000ft, only a TA. Was there a TA? We don’t know yet. Being a military helicopter it may not have TCAS. It also seems as per FR24 the helicopter was not fitted with ADS-B

This is awful and heartbreaking. It brings back memories for me when a Florida Air fligh went into the Potomac on January 13, 1982. This was the result of failure to engage the engine anti-ice system, along with snow accumulation on the wings, and the failure to RTO. The plane clipped the 14th Street Bridge and went into the Potomac. It wad awful. 5 survivors out of 79 souls on board.

TCAS doesn’t give an RA below 1000ft (so you don’t descent into the ground) and the helicopter didn’t have ADS-B, and may not have TCAS so not sure if that may have contributed

So this was an "accident"? The video shows the Helo was on a direct path to the target from a ways out. Iow, there's no chance it didn't have a visual on the plane and could have/should have avoided. Even ATC, told the helo to get out of the planes way. Wonder who's on the airplane manifest that was coming to DC? 🤔
@tomstravels52017 сағат бұрын
Seriously? You’re now claiming with no evidence the US Army intentionally flew a helicopter into a commercial airliner after 67 people have died? They were told to stay behind the aircraft, we don’t know they mistook the departing aircraft for that one. Just because this happened in USA doesn’t mean it cannot happen. Accidents happen, that includes yourself
