Definitely a Gikuyu thing. I had a 5 year old niece say that when I'm on the phone with relas all she hears is "aii" forever which means yes, in agreement. Good observation Coop! LMAO!! 🤣

Yes it was a good video. I am planning on visiting around October as well but haven't been able to find a concrete answer on if the YF vax is required to gain entry. This has been holding me back from booking a ticket. Do you know if it's required to get in to Nairobi kenya?
@suzmagooz3487
@suzmagooz3487 19 күн бұрын
@elly2343 hi... not so much a requirement for getting into Kenya... more a requirement for going back to ur home country (depending on ur home country I guess)... I'm Australian, only needed to prove I'd had the yellow fever vaccine when returning home to Oz after being in Kenya

He's right man. I've lived in Nairobi and it's a beautiful, modern city but do not act a fool. If you get into an altercation and you're in the wrong then you'll most likely get stomped out. I never got into trouble because I minded my own business and I respected people's boundaries.

I swear you're now Kenyan. I love the nose swaps... I avoided it everywhere. You're on point on everything. Visiting a lady's house? Take some cooking stuff such as cooking oil, sugar, milk, grains, toiletries etc. A guy's house... enquire whether he takes alcohol and meat coz if he does... You'll forever be the man.

When I was visiting Kenya, went to village mall, while I was in line waiting at coffee shop a white woman stepped in front of me but the cashier asked me to wait while he served the white woman. I could have made a scene but chose not, because I was in a foreign country, and don''t know how they do things so, I immediately walked away without saying anything but that is a coffee shop I never return to. That was very disrespectful and terrible customer service. One thing I know for sure is that would never happen in the U.S. A very BIG turnoff and left a bad taste in my mouth about Kenya.

You should have made a huge scene. Many kenyans are full of BS and i know coz am one. I made such a scene when i was 16 years old back in the early nineties at Yaya Mall in kilimani and they still remember me to this day,lol.

Sorry about that experience. As Kenyans, we get the same treatment when a Muzungu is on the picture by our fellow Kenyans. I will always say something to the attendant quietly. It's sad, and we hope our people will wake up at some point.

Its the remnant of subservience and inferiority in some post Africans who were led to worship white skin. Don't be afraid to speak up, foreigner or not. Remember even Obama wrote about the same treatment when he visited as a Senator back in the day.

Kenyans don’t bring you anything when visiting your house if you’re a foreigner. In fact, they will often leave with a bag that you are expected to give them to n parting. Will also ask you for transport/fuel if they visit your home for work or pleasure.
