In Sweden, we want variety with our sweets. So many people buy loose candy different varieties and tasters in the same bag that you choose. Usually mix sweet, sour and salty to get a little mixed taste experience.

Not sure if someone already told you but the small cartons of candy are made specifically as a treat for small children. They are not as common now but back in the 80s I could pretty much get on every time we got groceries. They where right by the cash register so I hade to behave. A win win situation as they say😁

Lakrisal used to be sold at the pharmacy in the late 1800's early 1900's. It was sold as a cough suppresant. If you liked the Fanta.. We just got a new flavour which has become my absolute favourite ever. Fanta Watermelon/Lime.. And there is also a Fanta with Elderflower.

What an absolutely beautiful family you have 😍 and it was really lovely to “meet” your wife and kids! I had my husband and our two boys watching this, it’s cool and interesting to see Swedish candy being evaluated by other people not used to it. I personally love licorice, both sweet and salty, I was a good part into my adulthood before I realized not everyone in the world had or ate those 😂.

we have licorice in Bulgaria but it's only sold in like little candy shops in malls and it tends to be the only candy left at the end of the day lol. only people who buy it are people who don't know what it is and scandinavians

It's interesting he said it tastes like Hershey's since the only thing I have heard of Hershey's is that it supposedly tastes like vomit 🤣🤣

I can’t say that it tasted like vomit when I recently tasted it but it didn’t taste well to my Swedish taste buds. The taste apparently comes from butyric acid, which is added to the milk of US chocolate instead of pasteurising the milk. Butyric acid is also found in parmesan cheese, rancid butter - and vomit. Some describe the US chocolate having a “tangy” flavor.

What fun to see your lovely family! 😍 The best Marabou chocolates are those that contain nuts. Guess you ate it with only milk chocolate? It's the most boring of them. If you're going to order more check if you can find the Marabou with Schweizernöt or helnöt. Nöt = nut Also check out what's available at your IKEA. At Swedish IKEA, they usually sell "Polly" which is very good.

This was a really fun video. You have a beautiful family. Licorice is really not for everyone. I so rarely eat candy and when I do, I usually go for heavy chocolate stuff like Marabou Dubbel Nougat or Karl Fazer salty butterscotch chocolate.

People chewing Läkerol will never stop to seem weird to me (it is more of a cough-drop that you should allow to slowly melt in the mouth than candy). Ah the lakrisal, it is a compound word out of Lakrits and Salt, or Liquorice Salt (which would be Salmiak (a.k.a.: "salty liquorice"), which is pretty much what that is) You could have a bit of fun and do a blind-test on the family. Get various american and swedish (or european overall) chocolate and have them rate the various chocolate blindly.

The salty licorice is an acquired taste for sure... Beware of "Djungelvrål" and "Super salt" if you're not into that...

Daim is pronounced like Dime, not like Dame. :) Läkerol is marketed as a cough drop in Sweden, it's supposed to soothe a sore throat.

Don't eat to much läkerol. It is not considered a candy in Sweden, mostly because of the fact that it can act as a laxitive if you eat to much.

Uh, "Lakris" i wouldnt even call "candy" if its the "Lakritze" what its called in germany. It has a very weird taste, which you really have to like. Its definitely not something you would give kids with the other stuff :D
