Wait a minute -- about the racist movement significantly related to Donald Trump in any way, listening to Noam Chomsky, I recall the differences between Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump: Ronald Reagan was a racist and proud. Donald Trump declares emphatically, on the other hand, in his own words, "I am absolutely not a racist." I wish to say that we cannot suppress what Ronald Reagan came to reveal. In the code language, continuing with Lee Atwater's revelations, Ronald Reagan was deeply committed to anti-black racism (which is the racism of the USA, in effect). The reason for Reagan's effectiveness is rooted in his Irish identity (he's that "fighting Irish character.") Ronald Reagan, the Irish descent (being Irish matters, I think) B actor, was not messing around about his hatred for black people. He was like the specter of the founding father's trope come back to life. He was a "racist gentlemen." No two groups of "white people" that I can think of should know who has stood steadfast in protecting us blacks but only fail to do so, were other than the Irish and the Jews. Not all, but many significant numbers of these people had to have turned around to attack and to ultimately absolutely betray us for money and power. Name me any other groups under the banner of oppression that, ironically, did more harm to blacks and continue to do so, other than these two. They are such hypocrites as a "group." We must understand that we cannot allow white people to pretend to know nothing about their history and the blacks before whiteness. We cannot move ahead when we fail to foreground what we're talking about. There is continuity. Allowing people to hide behind a claim to innocence and ignorance about the particulars of white history is a crock and a complete waste of time. This is because instead of calling people out about the specifics of their identities, in action, it leads us back to reinforcement and the remaking of white supremacy. Do you see what I mean?

And it’s not like Horne was saying that it was ALL white people, seemed pretty clear to me that he was saying that the settlers’ autonomous political project was encapsulated by trump. To make a comparison to 18th and 19th century colonialism, the Democrats should be viewed as playing the a role somewhat akin to that played by the British in the US and Africa. Not benevolent, but representing a wider coalition of capitalist forces (versus the Plantocracy in the US and the Boers in SA) whose rule was secured partly through concessions to the groups it had displaced and/or oppressed. Like how the Americans wanted to settle beyond the Ohio River despite treaties being signed forbidding that, or the Boers who similarly wanted to escape British economic domination by taking more lands from native peoples, you see a nativist, anti-elite tendency which is profoundly hostile to the colonial state which governs it, for perceived advantages it confers oppressed groups, supposedly to their detriment. This can perhaps explain some of the anti-woke backlash at the heart of the Trump movement. Anyways Horne’s analysis was just spot on I thought!

What is “the settler class”? If it includes white working class and middle class people, then it is not an economic class. Thus it is not useful in organising to replace capitalism with socialism. White working class people, like all other working class people, are harmed by capitalism, imperialism and racism, and will benefit from changing capitalism into socialism. Imperialism only benefits some of the capitalist class and is a net cost to all working class people. It is working class people who pay the cost of imperialist state spending ($1.25 trillion annually on military, CIA, NSA, USAID, etc.). It is working class people who are traumatised and maimed in imperialist wars, and who return as veterans, many of whom become homeless and/or commit suicide. 40% of US veterans are disabled. Racism harms all working class people by dividing the working class, making us weak and unable to unite in a strong labour movement against capitalist exploitation. Racism also harms all working class people by treating some employees worse, and thus, through capitalist competition, driving down the wages and working conditions of everyone else. Thus it is in the economic interest of all working class people, including white people, to end capitalism, imperialism and racism, and replace these with socialism.
