These days its vitually impossible to know what to think whats going on in places like Venezuela, Cuba and a whole host of countries on America's hit list. When you look at the successes of socialism in these countries and the empowerment of oppressed people right accross the spectrum, it is inspiring. On the issue of freedom we're told you'll be arrested if you speak out against these governments and people live in a state of fear from 'big brother'. I not only question how true this is, I'm also questioning how free we are ourselves. Certainly in the wake of the crash of 2008 our governments seem to be our own worst enemy. We can say what we like but nothing seems to change, how free does that make us?

I'm Cuban. It's terrifying every block has at least one government worker that knows the ins and outs of the whole block. When you do vent, you have to be careful of who might be listening so that you don't end up in jail. I just wish that more people confidently knew about this, because it's hard to see how many people have no idea. They think everything is peachy in Cuba and it feels like the twilight zone that people don't believe that it's a dump full of broken revolutionary promises.

Cuba also stood with Ethiopia when the US gov froze the shipment of weapons that Ethiopia paid for. Somali army armed to the teeth entered 700 km into southeast Ethiopia by surprise during the intensified war in the north that Ethiopian army was involved in. Cuban advisors and soldiers stood with Ethiopia. That is the truth.

There are people who talk about the problems in this country with the aim to address them and make this a better place to live for everyone. Then there are people who talk about the problems in this country with seething hatred and with no aim but to dismantle everything this country stands for. The latter group are completely myopic to how this country (and what it stands for) is infinitely better than the alternative. Manolo is part of this group.

12 minutes in, and I'm frustrated by these kinds of people who ignore the difficult life that Cubans lead due to the sanctions. If you go on KZbin saying that Cuba in 2021 is a success story, nobody's going to listen to you, because it's so obvious that life in Cuba is super difficult. What you should be saying, is that Cuba COULD be a success story in 2021, if not for US sanctions. It takes a lack of heart to diminish the struggle of what those people are going through on that island to make ends meet, day to day. Same for Venezuela. Marxism is supposed to be about industrializing your country, for the benefit of the day to day lives of all its inhabitants. If that process of development is not possible due to imperialist sanctions and sabotage, then it's simply not a success story. Be real. And also, keep in mind that Marxism is also about strategy. How to best build an industrialized, developed, socialist society, despite the hurdles put in our way by imperialist West. If the strategy is failing, then let's discuss the future strategy.
