3:40 It's more of a" moral obligation", and not solely because of poverty, that Filipino families chose to take care of their elders. Respect and looking after the elders is deeply ingrained in Filipinos' cultural values. We have close family ties and you could see that in most Filipino homes being multigenerational. We value what our elders have done to raise us, in return, we do whatever we can to reciprocate, even in small ways and support them especially in the twilight of their lives. Even in their dying days, we want our elders to feel loved even if they don't recognize us anymore. We don't want them to die lonely. And ohhh...2:02 im one of those nurses ready to be "exported"😂,

"Mano po" is a sign of respect to the elders. You take the hand of the elderly and you place the back of their hand to your forehead and you say the magical words "Mano po" (bless in English or asking for blessing) in which the elders would respond "Bless you." Even if the elders are not our relatives, we still do it. Filipinos are so respectful that we use "po" and "opo" in our sentences. "Opo" is a polite way of saying yes while "po" is to address someone with respect. Example, "Good morning po." "Po" and "opo" are not only used to elders, but also to anyone you respect. This culture is deeply ingrained to us since we were small children.

@@TripTipsPodcast Hopefully. I'm just not sure though how Americans are being polite to elders, like their parents, or to anyone in general. I think it's just the word "please" that makes it polite. 🤔 Please let me know. Oh, I remember when I was young, my mom would smack me across my mouth if I forgot to say my 'po" and "opo" because I was being disrespectful. To most people around the world, specially nowadays, that's child abuse, but for Filipino kids and parents, that was discipline.

No one should be left behind....old or young. That's why we care for our elders. I can't neglect my elders. My father just passed away last year. He got sick since 2012. He went through some dangerous moments of his illness. Bed ridden for a whole year of 2023 before he left us. But never in a moment that my family felt giving him up. We stood by his side until his last breath. He's not perfect in his younger years, but he's dearly loved. And that's all we need to fuel our hearts and minds to stay together, even tighter, because we know that sooner or later something hard is going to hit us and we can't show to him that we were aching inside to see him in agony. We gave him care and love throughout the years. I miss him so much. ❤😔

The Philippines do have a law about equal rights for women. I used to work in a call center, and most of the managers were women. The last company I worked at had 4 female managers x 1 male manager. As for fruits, that is also true. The Philippines is one of the biggest importers of coconuts and bananas. When you go to Japan, fruits are like gold. Super duper expensive. 1 piece of banana 🍌 is about $2. If you buy 1 kilo of banana here, it's only about $1.50 (approx.) which is Php75 - Php80. We also have the sweetest mangoes. You can eat all the sweetest fruits your heart desire. They're like dirt cheap. Sometimes, you can even ask your neighbor for permission if you could pick fruits from their trees and they'll be more than glad to give them to you for free, specially mangoes, as it bears about a hundred in just 1 tree. But you gotta climb the tree, though. 😂

we don't send our elders to home care institution, or whatever, and that is across the board with or without financial because we value togetherness from the first light until we die. And we treat it as disrespectful for sending our elders to home care institution. We rather hire somebody or take turn responsibility within the family circles. Or even ask the neighbor to take care for a short time.

Good luck on your visit here! Hope you enjoy! June to November is the rainy season, with July to October the peak of typhoon season. But no worries, in November there's just occasional light rainfall, except of course if there's a typhoon (which is uncommon in November). @@TripTipsPodcast Hello, thank you for your reply. But there is a problem here, Paternoon cannot be the right software for choosing music and voting because certain people are only members of it and some may choose intentionally. You weren't surprised that after a few months of being on KZbin, not a single person has chosen V's music. In my opinion, if it's possible, you should choose Taehyung as you chose the rest of the boys. Unfortunately, many KZbinrs choose each of them because there are seven of them. And they are right.
