Root beer is the flavoring of a root plant, called sassafras, and made about the same way as beer. That's why they call it that, but there's no alcohol involved lol. It's kind of an acquired taste for a lot of people outside the U.S

Don't be sorry about not preferring the taste of root beer. According to Wikipedia, Sassafras root is the main ingredient and was used *medicinally* by the Native Americans, but Europeans got ahold of it a few hundred years ago, in the Americas, and then started using it in their drink too. I think it's an acquired taste, and if you're used to only tasting a "medicine" with the same ingredient, then your memory is telling you "No! Don't drink this!" if you have negative memories of that thick, concentrated, syrupy medicine, at least. :P In my experience, growing up in the US, I never had medicine really, so I cannot equate the taste of root beer to anything else but root beer drink. :)

Yessss, you finally tried the Cheez-Its!!!! lol I mentioned the cheddar ones in a box a long time ago (they are crisper in a box) and I'm glad you tried that one. I didn't know you have lol I think the cheddar are more addicting!. Grew up with them! I'm not a fan of the white cheddar though. There is no difference, when produced, cheddar cheese is naturally white to light yellow in color. The dark yellow, almost orange, color we typically see in cheddar cheese is the result of a coloring additive. This comes from a plant extract of the achiote tree called annatto. This additive gives the naturally white cheddar cheese that deep yellow, or orange, appearance. (that's what I found out online about cheddar cheese) :)

Cheddar is naturally white. The cheddar we usually eat tastes different because of the dye they use to make it orange! 😀🔥

They're named differently by the corporation who sells a few of the same/similar chocolate bars in both countries. *Mars bar* in the UK is a *Milky Way* over in the US. Frank Mars started the company in the US in the early 1920s, and later on his son brought the bar over to the UK. This is what I learned from Wikipedia, at least. :P

Yet another great American food taste testing video. Sorry you didn't like the root beer, even though I've never tried that particular brand myself, but I do like A&W Diet Root Beer. It was funny when your dog barked in the background and I loved that additional chair spin in your Reese's dance. Speaking of Reese's did you know that in July they are going to launch Reese's Cups stuffed with Reese's Pieces? I love the sound of those and I can't wait until they're made available to purchase in specialist shops here in the UK.

Aimee, root beer is made from the root of the birch tree. We also have a drink made from the bark that is just called Birch Beer. I've seen a lot of people from other countries try root beer and hate it, but it is an acquired taste. It was originally made by the Native Americans which is why it's really only found here in the US.

I grew up on root beer so I've always loved it. It's definitely an American thing, I guess. Root beer floats are the BEST (root beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). You should try one with A&W Root Beer. Dad's is great, but A&W is the BEST commercial variety. Sarsparilla is even better than root beer and is a more traditional recipe. Most of today's root beers are flavored with wintergreen, but the older, more traditional root beers are flavored with sassafras and/or sarsparilla root (hence the name, "root beer"). There are alcoholic versions making their prominence here in the US lately, but that's sort of a new trend. It's referred to as "beer" because it was traditionally carbonated with yeast, like beer was. Because of this, there was a very small amount of alcohol (under .5% alcohol by volume), but not enough to get anyone drunk. These days, it's all artificial products. But there's NOTHING like a homemade root beer. Cheers, Aimee! Glad to see you still at it and with so many subs now! :D

Root beer is an acquired taste. Stewart's root beer is the best & it's really good when you scoop some vanilla ice cream into a frozen glass & pour the root beer over that. It's called a root beer float. Delicious!

You should totally give root beer another shot and try A&W brand! Either A&W or Mug because they're both really good! Root Beer is supposed to have a sassafras kind of taste. It's the best thing to drink in my opinion with rich desserts.

I'm also having Reese's peanut butter cups right now and its the love of my life since childhood! lol They started selling them now in Ireland, which I was so happy about when I came back there last year! They are going to be selling a new Reese's peanut butter cups with the Reese pieces inside of them that I think you would love to try sometime! I think I mentioned that there's also a Butterfinger peanut butter cups out there now and they are good, but not as good as Reese's! I would make a list of all the things you have already tried.

Nice go! Please try root beer once more, but this time do a root beer float. 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour root beer over top. Eat ice cream and sip soda together for a desert/drink experience. I dislike the taste of plain root beer because of the strong anise/licorice flavors, but I LOVE rb floats! It's like the Kool aid problem. There are specific requirements for prep that make allllll the difference! Thanks for the videos...I'm an accidental fan. Every foreigner I see post an American food taste test video always tries candy, salty snacks, sodas, and other processed foods. There are some of us, a lot of us actually, who don't like to shove food that will give us diabetes & other diseases down our throats. Would be cool if someone did a video on those foods. Not sure if you are a caramel kind of gal, but in America Milky Way chocolate bars have caramel along with nougat inside the chocolate coating. Quite delicious, if you ask me. Also, if you haven't already, try a bag of Fritos Honey BBQ Flavor Twists; they are my favorite! On a different note, is the role you are hoping to get a singing role? I'm sure you have quite the angelic voice.

Yep, it was time for a Reese's dance. Reese's is increasingly popular in America, all the ice cream shops have a variety of Reese's topping or mix-in options. Everything was good except for the Root Beer, told it is an acquired taste, which I have never been able to acquire.

They also have 'Royal Blizzard' and 'Royal Treats' ice cream. Though, they are only presently located in Poland in Europe?

'tcp' in America is called icy hot and yes I do think it smells just like it. it's funny cause every unamerican person I know of who's tried root beer doesn't like it. and I think if I had just tried it when I was a teenager I wouldn't like it either. it's like an acquired taste I guess.
