1. In rugby you can tackle ONLY the ball carrier. No blocks, or whatever (to caricaturize a bit, you basically can't even touch someone who doesn't carry the ball with your finger) 2. as said before: only 2 ways allowed to move the ball forward... Running it, or kicking it. (tossing it backwards isn't even an official law, but only the 2 first ones which make it logical) So when the ball carrier kicks the ball forward to himself, he basically makes himself not the ball carrier anymore, when the ball is loose in front of him, you technically can't tackle him anymore (if you do so it's obstruction, a direct foul which can even being yellow carded), only option as a defender is to run after the ball yourself to try to steal it. But since it's a surprising move, you're not ready to run after it, being focused on the body, more than the ball itself. in opposite of the kicker, who clearly knows he's surprising you. last point: the thing about the play not stopping after a tackle is certainly THE reason why USA football isn't popular in the world. TOO frustrating to watch as a rugby addict. (even if we can appreciate to watch a NFL game, no disrespect) Sorry for my weird English. Vive la France.

It is called a tackle. The definition of a tackle is different and what is supposed to happen when a tackle occurs is different. Just knocking someone down is NOT a tackle in Rugby. You must be held, in the grasp, when your knee touches the ground to be a tackle in Rugby. When you are tackled you must immediately pass, play or release the ball.

When you asked " What team is this" on 09:40. That's Scotland. The dude scoring the try is a South African born player. He played for SA under 21s and sadly looked for options abroad. It would be difficult for him to make the team anyway. SA is stacked for days in his position. Cool fact, his big bro is also a monster. Paya in the front row .Played in England but represented SA. And here in Scotland we are glad to have him playing for us. He's a unit for sure. You could be forgiven for thinking when he changes out of his kit he puts on a breast plate and red cape and carries a big hammer :D Seriously though you can't beat the atmosphere at a big Rugby match. Mixed crowds, you can still have a beer in the stadium, safe to to take your grand kids and mother in law to. Rooting for Scotland to win the World Cup obviously, but we' have a really difficult group with both South Africa and Ireland to play, it was always going to be difficult. Can I recommend if you possibly can find a way to watch the Scotland Ireland game this coming weekend. It should be a belter. Ireland currently ranked No 1, Scotland ranked at No 5.

If you enjoyed watching it on the screen, go and watch it for real, there's got to be a club somewhere near to you. You'll get an idea of the spirit of rugby, which is basically 30 guys knocking hell out of each other for 80 minutes, then buying each other a beer afterwards and talking about it.🏉🙂

World Cup is on right now, try to check some games/highlights... Yesterday night's game between South Africa and Ireland was great. And the first try scorer in this video (Henry Arrundel) scored 5 tries yesterday against Chile. Currently, the four top national teams are Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and France... and one of those team will be world champion in a month... I'm French so obviously, i have my favorite :D Keep going watching rugby, it's the greatest sport !

The best game by far of the Rugby World Cup happened last night between Ireland and South Afruca. You cant just watch highlights for this to experience the intensity of this game.That was real rugby at it's finest... nail-biting and tense. Both made errors but what a game. Ireland deserves to be the nunber 1 team right now 🎖🏉 Springboks..we have the talent...what is happening with the kicking..Damn. 11 points lost because we missed kicks 🇿🇦 Go Bokke. Both teams played their heart and souls out in this one and put their bodies on the line.

Yeah what a game. Admittadly though, not many were expecting Faf to nail his kicks, they were low percentage kicks. Also Irleand play off linouts and they dropped a lot of them too. As much as SA are annoyed at thier missed kicks, they probably wouldn't have mattered if ireland got thier lineouts sorted in the first half so swings and roundabouts. Ireland have been unbelievable for over a year now. They wouldn't go wrong picking them as a team to support.

You guys do realise the the Rugby World Cup is happening right now? If so, no better time than to watch and learn the sport. Watch South Africa vs All Blacks warmup game before the World Cup a few week ago or last nights match South Africa vs Ireland (ie Current) world number 1 Ireland vs World Number 2 and current World Champions South Africa. Two very different games ie high scoring match vs last nights low scoring but very physical and technical match, worthy of a World Cup final.

The best match of the current world cup (so far) was South Africa vs. Ireland; SA (my team) lost, but my goodness the quality of the game was so good I don't even care. If you guys can watch the full match somehow in the US, in your spare time, I suggest you do ;)

The ball can bounce any number of times. You're right about forward passes though. When the ball is kicked,including penalties,the game continues if said ball is within the playing area

There are some pretty tough teams except New Zealand (All Blacks) , South Africa (Spring Boks) and Australia (Wallabies). Especially now in the World Cup. You can look at teams like Ireland (they wear green and white). Then there's the hosts of the World Cup 2023 which is France (The Chickens) who are pretty good especially now and especially since they're the hosts. There is your England team with the white jersey and white shorts. Then there is also Fiji with the white jersey and black shorts. These are some teams to watch out for.

Lions tours are HUGE as big, if not bigger, than the Rugby World Cup and have a much older history. For many players, playing for/against the Lions is the pinnacle of their careers. Tours take place every four years to one of the three Southern hemisphere sides SA, NZ or Aus where they play a number of games against provincial/regional sides before a series of three test matches (in the past it was 4 or 5) against the country's international side. For the players of the home nations just getting picked for the Lions squad is huge, let alone winning a series. Kicking forward! Along the ground ball is unpredictable in direction of bounce. Through the air flight predictable but bounce on landing is unpredictable If you kick it forward you can't be tackled without the ball so it depends how fast you or a team mate is to chase the ball

Here's a story about a hardman of rugby: Sir Wayne "Buck" Shelford. In 1986 during a match against France, in a ruck he lost 4 teeth and had his nutsack ripped open, leaving one ball swinging free. Buck told the physio to stitch it up, went back out and played another 20 minutes until he got concussed and removed from the field.
