Might want to look into Figo, one of the players you saw with Roberto at Madrid. He was actually the one that took most of the free kicks that could be a pass, in a team that had Roberto Carlos, Zidane and Beckham, even though it was a skill he picked up late in his career. He was mostly know for his feints, his assists and his passes. In his prime, he could carry a top team by himself, did so at Barça. Yes, he played for both.

In 2003 Roberto Carlos did one of his famous cannons shoots in a Real Madrid vs Juventus games, The GK Gianluigi Buffon was able to stop it, but ended in the hospital later with a broken hand. Small brake though, but the doctor and Buffon where shure it was from Carlos shot, cause that was the time it hurted. Also, there is this very wild clip of a Madrid vs Barcelona game where Carlos gets a clear shot to the frame and there is no GK, his only obstacle was Charles Puyol, Roberto shoots and Puyol stops the goal with hiv FACE, your heart legit stops beating for a second and can´t help but think Puyol died... he was alright, very hurted, but alright.

When I was framing the first home I ever built as a young man, I was nailing off a jack stud with a framing gun and the nail went through a knot and the 16 penny nail buried itself into the meat of my palm. I immediately pulled it out and sat down on the subfloor, as the dizziness started to set in. Can confirm, it f*****g hurts to impale your own hand. Also, Roberto Carlos was a specimen. I am glad I was able to watch him score (most) of these as they occurred.

This is almost uniquely a Brazilian thing too. Roberto Carlos, Adriano and Hulk all had a very similar shooting technique. It's also something we seem t have mostly lost in football, nowadays there is Valverde and that's about it I think.

One of the reasons Roberto Carlos was way above average is that he played as a Left Back and still could outscore some strikers. I remember back in the 90's, playing Elifoot (an oldschoold Football Manager game) in which Roberto Carlos was the only defender in the game which would have a * stat, meaning he was one of the best scorers in game.

always remember, the brain takes from 0.15sto 0.3s to react to sth. now measure how long it takes the ball from the moment he shoots to crossing the goalline. so yes some of those shots are litterally impossible to stop.

sometimes it may feel like the shoot wasn't that fast and the goalkeeper was weak, but remember this goalkeepers are world class keepers , people that got filtered for years trough good teams and ended up chosen to play infront of the whole world. Defeating a keeper of that caliber with a shoot that barely lets him move an inch, means that shoot went over 100km/h . That is close to the speed of an arrow from an average power bow. to that u can add the curved trajectory caused by wind or player skill or both. If those keepers can't get it, 99.99% of the people you know won't get it also. unless it hits you in the stomach . and than you will have a very bad day.

I disagree with you, Im from Argentina and i was a player, i trained 5 days per week and played in the weekends. 2 times per weak we had a training in wich we had to carry the ball juggling from one side of the pitch to another. You underestimate the absolute control, balance and first touch you can gain with that simple excercise. Best tecnical players in the world like Riquelme, Messi, Maradona, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Romario, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, Cafú, Aimar, Ortega, Del Piero, Totti, Baggio juggled and were juggling every day with the ball, for training, or for fun.

@@MatiasDypala As someone who also trained as a football player we never had such drills. Yes, everybody does it for fun, but you simply don't need it as a drill. Other drills are way more important. Just having a circle of players and juggling it with 1-2 touches seemed a lot more useful to begin with. To clarify I'm not saying it's useless to train it, it's just not necessary.
