There's more to that name, Super Junior. I don't know why it's Super Junior, really, but it's a project group. The members of this group were supposed to enter different parts of the industry -- acting, gag, hosting, dj-ing, etc. According to their stories, they had it rough during their trainee days, too. Some say they were actually the "left overs" of another famous group w/c debuted ahead of them. And it was a pity and a waste to not give them a chance at an album at least because they've been training for years. Their start was unstable. They were supposed to go their separate ways after their first album, but somehow it clicked with the Korean GP. Now, they released their 11th album, the first in SM company. If you go through their almost 18 years of discography, you'll find gems of every music genre.

Mr.Simple is such a banger for 2011 era you know. 2010-2012 were all that electronic era 😂😂😂 That was when i first got into kpop, 2011. Mr Simple was my first super junior intro. I know, sometimes i laughed too watching and listening to Mr.Simple in 2022 😂 Sorry Sorry too. You have nooooo idea how big how banger the song was at that era. Really phenomenal. Big amount of prisoners from prison in Philippine performed to the song. Went very viral back then. You can search that video on YT. That was kinda the start of Kpop Wave throughout Asia. That is why medias dubbed the group as 'Hallyu Wave King' / Hallyu Pioneer. Now everytime they performed Sorry Sorry they performed the rearranged version.

They were called "the Juniors" when they were trainees and added "super" to it when they became a group because they were originally going to be a project that all the trainees were going to go through before being assigned to other branches of entertainment. For that reason they were going to become the super group of the company "Super Junior" but the fans forced SM to leave the project

Get a glimpse of how crazy and talented they are just watch Heechul, he's a great jump off point into this Sapphire Blue Rabbit Hole. You may say he's the rabbit youll chase down the rabbit hole to the Mad Hatter's tea party --- be in for a wild ride with Super Junior because.they're a talented, crazy bunch! Super!!! I started with Mr. SIMPLE ,too then lost touch. I learned the members, starting from their oldest ones started conscription in 2012, so they performed in sub-units and as a whole- so as not to lose touch with fans. It took 10 years for all members to finish. Last year they were on a world tour. E L.Fs, their fans' name, are still here. 💙🧝‍♀️

Super Junior are the best. Black Suit, Devil, and Magic are the ones I would really recommend. They debuted in 2005 so they celebrating their 17th year. And they are great craic, mad messers.

You will like "Devil" and perhaps also "Black Suit", and probably also "Sorry, Sorry - Answer" (it's a completely different ballad version!). Loved how you said that "Mr Simple" was not just of its time, but ahead of it's time. It's so lazy to call old stuff "dated". Things should be appreciated for what they meant at the time. Things are more polished now, but early K-Pop is often more experimental, also more culturally specific though, so it needs more consideration of the context. SuJu's greatest strength are their vocals, so the autotune on "Sorry Sorry" was a shame, it sounds much better when they perform it live without that. The choreography of "Sorry Sorry" was created by American legends Nick Bass & Trent Dickens who worked with MJ, among others. Interesting that you said that you find arm choreo difficult, because it's something I've noticed about Asian vs American pop choreo that Asian integrates hands and arms much more (see eg SHINee's "Lucifer" by a Japanese choreographer for insanely difficult "tutting"). SuJu were called "Super Junior 05" (they were founded in 2005!) at first because they were intended to be a "rotating group", meaning the members would be exchanged regularly. But the fans connected with them and protested, and the rest is history! That their number decreased from 13 (plus 2 only in the Chinese subunit) had individual reasons (sadly, some left and some were kicked out). It was "shut your tongue", but yeah, of course that's wrong, they meant "hold your tongue" or "shut your mouth", but it's pretty futile to nitpick about K-Pop English or even the English translations of the Korean lyrics. For most songs the lyrics are not the most important thing.

No that's not their whole thing Super Junior has been relevant since their debuted back in 2005. 2009 was their 4th anniversary and 3rd album. In November of this year they'll be celebrating 17th years and they remain a powerhouse in the kpoo industry... senior amongst seniors with #1 hits and best selling albums. Super Junior accomplishments need an entire museum to document ad most if not all kpop 1st is due to them. SuJu Sorry Sorry is the lead in making kpop an international word. First large group, first subunit, first international award, first to have 100 concerts; first to be bond from award show because they were winning too much, first to have Latin influences in their music, first to have 11 album, first and only group to have a plus size member and the list goes on.
