That was President Nixon at 24:56. Reagan didn't preside over Vietnam. LBJ, Nixon, and Ford did. Reagan presided over the Civil War in Nicaragua where his VP knew about extasy and cocaine that was being made into crack and shipped here in the US that VP was George Bush. Bush 1 used to be CIA director. So its unclear that Reagan knew of the shipments. Personally I think there was a 50-50 chance that Reagan knew what Bush was doing. I was in supply in the Air Force at this time sending supplies to Nicaragua. Worked with the Contras here in the US through their assigned base supply officer. We airlifted a lot during that fight. Evidently some people took advantage of return flights.

Great movie choice, but if you'd like to see what heroine truly does to people maybe you should watch "trainspotting" as it depicts the side of the "users" of such drugs, and not just the side of the suppliers....... Btw: please also react to "there will be blood"

Yes, trust me we Americans know what our government has done in the past wi the persecution & imprisonment of people with mental health & substance use issues and have made great progress since then but still need to do much more. These are typically good people with families that got addicted bc of stuff like this and need the communities help. Love your reactions brothers!

Problem with Vietnam was that most troops were drafted (forced to go) and as the war dragged on, already non existential moral plummeted even further. Soliders started looking for anyway to make a quick buck and drown their misery. Ripe for exploitation my friends

During late 60s L. A. area was where the drugs were cause it came across the Mexican Border but in early 70s the little town of Lakewood, Washington became the drug capital. I lived less than 2 miles from both the Army and Air Force. McCord AFB Washington a transport hub with cargo planes , now using C5 Galaxy. All the drugs were flowing in body bags and in military gear that nobody was checking.

Yo bros if you want another similar great true story movie about a huge drug mover it's called "Blow" with Johnny Depp. Another one, but not a true story is "The Departed" with DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg. And directed by Scorsese. One of the best gangster movies ever. And hey if you didn't recognize the main cop from American Gangster is the same guy from Gladiator! This was awesome. Great movie but depicts the Italian mob of that era very inaccurately. At this time in NYC they were unbelievably powerful and the end all be all of criminal power. Not now but at that time they were on par with their cousins in Italy.
