I see no problem with Evette Peters, she's perfect the way she is and besides as a black girl, myself; black-biracials comes in all/many forms not just particularly one form. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Yeah obviously I love her, I just think it bothered people that for a world-by-us line, addressing diversity and the racism that people face (which is always based on physical characteristics), they *had* to include a half-white doll?? When there are hundreds of other ethnicities that AG hasn't dared to touch, and all those ethnicities are massively underrepresented. And when they do give us an Indian doll like Sonali, Japanese like Jess, etc, they're ALWAYS half-white. So AG didn't really go out of their way at all to celebrate a different culture at all. I get that being black and being bi-racal puts those in a minority, but AG has put out so many characters with those attributes, and I personally wanted them to explore ethnicities and cultures in a collection that is supposedly celebrating diversity. And then we look at the concept art and see proof that american girl decided to take this doll and lighten her hair color and eye color before selling her, inherently white-washing the doll because they thought that would sell better, which is just disappointing, especially in the context of a "world-by-us" line. Thank you for this comment though! I'm pinning it because it's an important discussion to be had, everyone has their own feelings about this situation! I love Evette, but I don't want to say there's such things as perfect!

I love your comment! Evette is perfect and I'm wild about her! I love that she's biracial. I love her hair. I love her eyebrows. I love her lashes. As a doll artist, I'm impressed with her face paint and I'm happy that American Girl FINALLY realized that we doll artists are out here redoing their dolls to give them some much needed facial definition with our repaints and customizations. The eyebrows are perfect. I'm impressed with her outfit. I'm impressed with the improvement in quality of this trio of dolls. I love them all and Evette is awesome. So. Yay. 😊 PS. Corrine is AWESOME too! You go American Girl! You're getting the hang of it now!

I do agree that American Girl didn’t do good with the diversity of this doll, but I do love how she looks! Ahh, and the dress is beautiful!!! The flats are so pretty! Evette is beautiful!! And yes, I live 2 and a half hours away from an Ag place. 😓 I don’t like the white washing. I love her hair as well! Haha! Sammmeee! Let's face it. Even though Makena has the new face mold and seems to be the main character, Evette is the star. The reason is because Evette is different. She's biracial (which they don't do much & have not done part white, part black). She has grey eyes. Rare for them to do. Her Meet outfit is the most superior. Her wig is different (points to Makena for this too, they're tied for this). I really want this super curly wig to go into CYO. This needs to happen.

I agree that Evette was perfectly unique for my collection and I loved it! Her hair and meet were also my favorite haha. I do want a custom with Makena's twists but for some reason I couldn't connect to the new face mold, it just seems like they made the doll look really young and baby-like?? Maritzia's hair is also stunning but her face mold/paint and meet outfit just isn't my style either haha. AG does tend to do a lot of half-white dolls though, especially when they try to incorporate minority races :/

I love Evette, I think she is stunning but I'm also disappointed that she's not closer to her concept art. I think a medium-toned Addy mold with this wig in a darker brown would have been so pretty. Overall very mixed feelings but she is a beautiful doll and I did buy her recently.
