It's so cool to see your collection and all of the knowledge you have about early AG! I am a Bratz collector at heart but I have my childhood Julie. Watching your videos has tempted me to pull her out and restore her to her original glory. Your displays and attention to detail is inspiring 💕♥️

I can’t believe 35th anniversary Samantha was your first Samantha! I’ve been collecting for years, but watching your channel always has me dumbstruck - I didn’t know about all of the variations of Samantha purses, brooches, etc. Your collection is a literal museum, and I’m glad to see you making videos of it. Your 1987 Samantha is my favorite, and I must have a preference for 1987 dolls since my Kirsten is from 1987. I love that face! I would love a Gotz prototype as well.

Your story really resonates with me. I was born in 91' and as such; AG was a big part of my childhood. I flipped through those 90s catalogs over and over and over. All I ever wanted was the OG Felicity doll with her entire collection. My mom didn't understand that I was already a history nerd and that I didn't want the girl of today, but that is still what she got me anyway lol. So I was gifted my first doll Christmas of 1999. She was a girl of today doll with sandy blonde hair and big brown eyes. I don't remember her number exactly. She was in the red leather meet dress, with the doc martens, and black turtleneck. I received a husky, red snowsuit, and a dog sled with her as well. I still have the original dog sled to this day that I use in my christmas display. That last 90s, christmas was perfection, though. My second doll was Kailey, and I also adored her. Unfortunately, I left my two dolls in storage at my grandparents, where they accidentally gave them away (so bummed). On a fun and brighter note, I now have young daughters of my own who are new little AG fans, and my girls have dolls: Joss, Kira, and #55. We have Kira's tent, and Courtney's bunk bed and both sets are so adorable. Now I can live out my AG wishlist through them, haha. Like you, I just bought an OG Felicity and also her blue christmas dress, which I am so excited to unbox. My middle still wants Rebecca Rubin, and I also would like to gift Marie Grace to my youngest. I'm hoping to one day buy another Kailey doll and just pretend that she was never lost, lol. My original pleasant company doll may be long gone for now, but there is always ebay, thNk god 🙏 lol.🎉 That is why the Nicki and Isabel twins are freaking me out. I was their age 99 and received my first AG doll in 99. Your Samantha collection is a mash of "I'm not worthy"//chefs kiss* American Girl extravaganza, and I am all for it.

I have a Gotz 18 in doll from the 90s and she is with my other PC and AG girls on display. Love love love her! It’s great when people notice her and are like oh she’s a different doll, but she’s so cute etc., mean while, I’m thinking yep she’s adorable ❤ I lived in West Germany in the 80s with my family (Army kiddo) and doll collecting for any age is just common there. I have always loved dolls, but those PC catalogs made me into the adult collector I am today 🥰

I completely agree with you about the doll at 22:22. She is the most beautiful Samantha doll you have. I don't know what it is about her. It never occurred to me that all dolls look a little bit different - but something about the face shape and the eyes and the bangs make her the prettiest. If I had to pick one off your shelf to keep, it would be that one!

Aweomse video and amazing collection! I love the educational / historical preservation aspect of your collection - it’s really neat! A white body Samantha is on my dream doll list. I love her light brown hair, and the long bangs are my favorite! I really wanted a Samantha doll a while ago, and then when I learned how much variation exists among Samanthas, I knew I would really have to take my time to pick out the perfect one, especially since I plan to just have a single version of her (it’s part of how I limit myself - we all have are little parameters I suppose - so I don’t “allow” myself to have duplicates). Can’t wait to see the rest of your collection!!!!
@idreamofjonny Жыл бұрын
Thanks a million! Definitely take your time finding the right Samantha then. Every single one is different, especially the white body ones. Unless you know you’ve found the perfect one, you can always hold out for a good deal and sell her if you don’t like her. Reasonably priced white bodies still sell really fast. I hope you find her soon 💜
@Lavender_Aura_Collects Жыл бұрын
@@idreamofjonny Thanks so much! That’s great advice. Yeah I’m basically waiting until I find the one that just stops my heart - and I did see one like that last year, but I got several new dolls in the last half of the year and just felt a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of making room for another new doll, so I decided to wait. Also, I thankfully get very very attached to my dolls, so I know once I find the right one and get her home, she’ll be it. I don’t find myself wavering and replacing dolls, which works well for me and my collecting style, since I really enjoy a smaller collection. I currently hav 17, and that’s definitely enough for me right now. Any tips for things to be wary of as a first time white-body purchaser?

i love samantha so much, she is one of my favorite historical characters. i think the one i like the most out of ur display would probably be the samantha to the left of the 1984 gotz hard body doll. i think the gotz dolls are a little creepy for some reason, lol. like, the 1984 hard body one creeps me out a tiny bit, even though her and samantha basically have the same face shape and stuff. i think it’s just the fact that she has a hard body (a very weird and creepy looking body, for some reason) or something lol😂the other gotz doll is pretty funny looking though. she’s not that creepy, she’s just funny. honestly, she looks like samantha as a toddler lol. and her face kinda looks like that she didn’t smile for the camera or like, having the camera flash in her face or something. there are many ways to describe the expression on her face honestly 😂😂😂

It was incredible to see that many dolls of the same character, plus the doll that inspired American Doll! Is the reason you leave your top shelf Samantha without a dress on to show off the signature? I wonder why the 18-inch dolls have cloth bodies with vinyl head and limbs, instead of having the entire body made of vinyl. I feel like the dolls would be more durable, at least more waterproof, if their bodies were made entirely of vinyl.

Great video and you should be very very proud of your collection and your knowledge to go with it. I grabbed my Samantha to "play along". Mine is later PC version. I don't think her tooth is chipped but there is a gap and her hair is darker with soft eyelashes. But love her all the same. On all of your Samanthas is the PC stamp the same?
@idreamofjonny Жыл бұрын
Aw thanks, I really appreciate that! That’s so fun your Samantha got to hang out too. I’m gonna do a separate video on neck stamps eventually, but there is an enormous amount of variation in neck stamps and not many of my dolls have exact matches to another. They used multiple stamps within the same batch of dolls, so they’re not a perfect indicator of manufacturing date usually. I usually go by wig, teeth, and eyes 😊
