I am so into your 90s boy/girl best friend dolls idea! I’d absolutely be down for a full outline. I always daydreamed about there being a mid-90s character when I was a kid, especially since I was nine in ‘94 and turned ten in the spring of ‘95. My birthday spread would have been a backyard barbecue with a My Little Pony cake 😂

@@idreamofjonny @lynniebird I would love a full outline too! I was so upset they skipped over early-mid 90s for the next historical. Really bummed, especially since we were the kids who carried AG out of the 80s and have such huge love and nostalgia for PC-era AG. I would love to see a Super Nintendo, MLP, Polly Pocket (I still have the wedding and sleepover ones with all the Pollies still in there), Care Bears, a mini reproduction of one of the historicals collections like Christmas (OMG that would be so amazing!), Bitty Baby, a VCR and some VHS tapes, McDonald's or roller rink birthday, rollerblades, Lisa Frank school supplies, trolls, wacky 90s patterns, parachute pants, bucket hats of all kinds like the flower ones on the Miss AG bear (still have mine), AG magazines, camcorder... so many things you could include! There would be so much branded items from our capitalistic childhoods LOL.

I wish the twins were set in early 90s and not 1999. That's just me and alot of people.said the same thing. I wanted them maybe have a mini felicity,Addy or AG of today dolls cause they were new at the time in the way 90s.

If i had to do a historical doll, that could be outside of the American arena, i would love a medieval one. I also think the viking age would be super interesting as would the Renaissance. Other companies have tried to but they don't do it like American Girl used to do things - their whole world. On another point, I wish Mattel would sell the AG company to someone who is looking for a more modest profit margin but with a greater attention on the authenticity and quality.

I love your q&a! And I really love hearing you talk about late 80’s PC Samantha and Kirsten. You inspired me also to purchase my first WB Sam, so please keeping sharing your knowledge! Maybe you could do a video on IDing the year of the early Samantha’s. I know people pay money for this but that would be a great topic. Also love the idea of a proposed Historical Collection for an early 90’s doll! I was born in ‘82 and our house definitely had a lot of brown and “country” blue lol. The colors were more toned down than Courtney’s collection, like you said. I would love to see AG release a Happy Meal with the transformer toys for Courtney, and a birthday set with cane chairs and a MLP cake! Anyway, love your channel and your shop! ❤️❤️❤️

I was recently gifted a pre mattel 90s molly and I read her books and don't understand why Emily got a doll when she only in one of Molly's books unlike other best friend characters who were turned into dolls

Because she stood out coming from Great Britain in war time. Her accessory set is precious. Personally, i love mine. I do like several girls with shorter straight hair - including Kit and Lindsey. Kit's hair has such a historical aspect, too. It was from the first wave of women's rights - cutting their hair short. It started with adult women but spread to little girls. And the big bows. Besides, I have always loved the sporty tomboy style at least as much as the frilly lacy girly style.

A lot of people were upset they didn't do Linda and/or Susan for the best friends line, especially because they were more "friend" characters than Emily. I guess it was easier to go with Emily because she might have had a richer story than Linda/Susan (as Lisbet suggested). I wish the best friend dolls had stayed around longer!

What I notice nowadays from AG is that, unlike PC, they are invested in only the merchandise and not the stories and books for education. They reduced the stories from 6 to 2, they don't promote the books and the educational value of the historicals.

You have said in several videos that the 1987 Samanthas have distinctive dark brown eyes. I see the difference between the 1986 doll and the 1987, but do the dolls change again in 1988? I have a couple of each of those years but it seems like the eye color is the same. You have said the neck stamp is not a true indicator of the year the doll was made, but is there a way to tell by the wig bands? Love your videos and thank you for any information you can give me.

Yeah Mercari can be hit and miss! The biggest issue is it's so easy to see all the "sold" listings, so if you get a really good deal, people often will email the seller to cancel your order.
