​@@torimose6606 Oh I dunno - there was an African American girl in the kpop group Rania a few years ago and my fav female k-rapper Yoon Mirae is from the US and is African American & Korean. 😂 Other moomoos (Mamamoo fans) have probably commented about kpop's body & beauty standards vs Mamamoo but here's my 2 cents. Hwasa was flat-out told she was fat and ugly during auditions and all the members were rejected by dozens of agencies because they weren't "idol material" - they weren't cute and girly looking and they're all short (approx 5'3"-5'4"). Hwasa's response was to tell herself that if she didn't fit into kpop beauty standards then she'd make her own standard and that's pretty much Mamamoo in a nutshell. To their credit, tiny agency RBW signed them based on their talent rather than their looks and in collab with their RBW producers Mamamoo has crafted their own unique and successful career while ignoring kpop's standards for beauty, behavior and the typical girl group concepts for image and musical style. They've never limited themselves to one of the standard group concepts like cute, innocent or sexy or any particular musical genre (their discography is one of the most diverse I've ever heard) and unlike most girl groups they're involved creatively as songwriters, arrangers, choreographers and pretty much every other facet of their career - Wheein even paints the cover art for her solo projects. They've based their career on their world class vocals, riveting stage presence and the synergy and magic they create via four unique personalities and multi-talented artists who are also best friends. Hip is not meant to be a vocal showcase - it combines an empowering, upbeat message about being yourself despite any criticism you might get for being out of the norm (their definition of Hip) with a response to the haters and fashion nazis who post malicious comments about things like Hwasa's choice of what to wear when going to the airport (Hwasa co-wrote Hip). Mamamoo often includes empowering messages for girls and women in their songs, they've long been vocal and active in their lgbtq support, and they go out of their way to be inclusive to hearing impaired fans by including sign language in their choreo, creating vibrating light sticks that are triggered remotely at their concerts and by communicating with those fans via sign language at fanmeets. I think their success and role model status is helping to change kpop's unrealistic and unhealthy beauty standards and it's worth noting that in contrast to all the nastiness when the members were trying to break into the business Hwasa has become Korea's "it girl" and Solar appears on lists of most beautiful women. Just in case someone didn’t already. 4. "Niga" vs. "nega" The correct ways of saying "I" and "you" in Korean are 내가 (naega) and 네가 (nega), respectively. But they sound so identical that it is quite difficult even for Koreans to differentiate them apart. So many Koreans use the word 니가 (niga) when they want to say the word "you" even though it is incorrect. So what should a Korean do when a black person asks what "niga" means? Actually the Leader aka the rapper from (G)I-DLE Composed and Produce almost all their songs , and the concept , lyrics and sometimes the choreo are made by them. Is really rare to find GG like them I'm glad u like their song

@@torimose6606 Indeed. For disclaimer, (G)I-DLE are in my top 3 groups, they are amazing, Lion is superb, they have great vocalists, I can't praise them enough. But "vocal queens" are Mamamoo, no contest. Their title tracks lately are very contemporary and probably a bit commercial, and in Hip they focused on dance which they never really did so much before (it was their first time to perform with headsets instead of handheld mics, that says something), and the song is great but it really doesn't show them off properly. Watch their cover of Delilah for a real showcase of their talent.

Mamamoo are the top vocalists in kpop. All of them are mad talented all rounders. It’s like putting 4 solo artist (that they actually are) together in one group to make a even bigger fire work. Also mamamoo is known to break the boundaries of the Koreans beauty standards. They write, compose, style themselves. (G)I-DLE is actually one of the few girl groups who self produces their own music, which gets done by the members Soyeon and Minnie. Minnie is the one you commented about on her vocals, and Soyeon is the rapper. Lion was actually released for a TV competition called Queendom, and MAMAMOO also participated. Other important details to include about Lion are; PLEASE WATCH THE QUEENDOM STAGE. It was epic, and I still get chills thinking about it. I am so excited for their upcoming World Tour, because I need to see them live. Lion was a very important song to Shuhua, the member who started off the second chorus. She's originally from Taiwan, and could barely speak Korean at the time of their debut. She got massive online hate for that, amongst other things. After that, she kinda reduced herself to a background singer because she was insecure, until Uh Oh when she kinda blossomed. After that they went on that TV competition, and Shuhua gave her everything in the finale with the Lion performance. It was powerful AND emotional.

She can also play different instruments like piano, drums, guitar.. Minnie is from Thailand, she is a very good friends with Lisa from BP, she writes songs also, as well playing piano. She has very unique voice! Shuhua is from Taiwan. Amazing dancer! Yuqi is from China. She has unique deep voice. She can play traditional Chinese instrument - Guzheng. Mamamoo multi-talented group of k pop what is interesting about this group is that they have creative freedom which allows them to make decisions about their music (lyrics, rhythms, concepts, costumes and dance) something that happens very little in groups of girls. Unfortunately that is the “ideal” body type. Honestly one of the many dark sides of Kpop industry. Companies often enforce weight limits and crazy diets to ensure the idols maintain their very tiny frame. People are aware that that’s not the real body type but it’s unfortunately something that people come to expect from idols. Often before they debut or release new music, companies would crack down on them and they’re put on restricted diets (many of which aren’t approved and borderline dangerous). Some companies would do weekly weigh-ins to make sure they stay under a certain weight. The thing is, it’s not always the companies fault. There have been many instances where if a particular idol gains a little weight or happens to be curvier than the rest of the group, they get mocked and bullied by “fans” for being “fat” and that often results in them dieting until they return much skinnier. And this is not just the girls, the guys too. Recently, there have been some idols who’ve embraced a curvier figure and have been able to thrive with it. Mamamoo’s Hwasa being an example. Still, she’s actually pretty skinny compared to the “normal” size.

I would like to say that I think the stigma around weight is getting better now. Back in the day it was common to see female idols on diets of 800 calories or less. But a lot more idols now advocate healthy diets and have a lot more healthy bodies. Twice for example are my biggest inspiration. They had harsh weight restrictions as trainees but now they’ve let go a lot. They’re slim but now scarily so and they clap back at fans who criticise them for eating a lot. Jihyo especially. Despite being a bit chubby she didn’t starve herself to lose weight quickly but instead ate healthy and weight trained and lost it over a few years but still kept her curves. Sorry for the rant.

G-Idle is definitely my favorite female group right now. Mamamoo is a close second. I appreciate them because members of the group actually contribute to the production of the songs. I stan talent. They're creators, on top of being amazing singers and dancers. Not sure if Twice contributes to their lyrics/song writing. I know Blackpink doesn't, which may explain why their total discography can be completed in an hour (but maybe if the members are talented with writing/producing they're saving it for solo careers, in which case I will totally stan if that happens).

It was a project they made in which they released 1 album representing each season of the year and each members. Each album has it own color, and for you to understand more, you should see Paint Me first. This song is like an Intro for all the project and they say in the song what each color means. In the MV, each of the members are wearing their respective color. Then, after seeing Paint Me, you can check these music videos: Starry Night - It represents the Spring. It is Hwasa era as she has a solo in the album called Yellow Flower. Also, there is another song in the album called Star Wind Flower Sun that you must check after listening all the 4. The sex appeal thing is kind of a new concept for Mamamoo - I mean they've always been gorgeous and sexy but their former concepts were very... retro-jazzy which is why they caught my attention. They also have some funny goofy stuff. I am so used to girl groups either doing the super-sexy or super-babycutesy concepts, and I liked how different Mamamoo were. This new concept is still awesome and they have the best gg vocals in Kpop imo. If you ever get the chance, check out some of Mamamoo's older stuff, like Mr. Ambiguous or Aah Oop.😊

ALL idols go thru extreme dieting, and that normal there ... Hwa Sa (the one u said had the sexy vibe in Mamamoo) is the only one owning her slightly thicker hips , cuz there have been other girls debuting with similar body type to hers in the past, and they get soooo much backlash by the fans that they are force to go to extremes to loose weight fast (also not to mention 1 out of every 10 idols in Korea has anorexia or any other type of eating disorder and many people just refuse to acknowledge it... its very sad but the beauty standards there are very specific, and in a industry filled with pretty girl they are all forced to do everything they can to not get overshadowed by others) i hope someday thing can get better but for now we can only pray that our queens are healthy PS: if u think Twice are a lot u need to see LOONA (12 members) or Cosmic Girls (they originally have 13 members but 3 of them are currently promoting in China, but 10 is still a good number :D) also if u do another one of these i recommend Red Velvet, LOONA and Dreamcatcher , just so u can get a feel of more kpop genres :)

Kpop girl groups have like 20 concepts or something. The most common concepts are Girl crush (badass, cool, powerful), Cute (cheerful, youthful, joyful, a lot of children like this concept) Versatile (they do anything basically) Also the thing you said about singers in US being sexy. In Korea it's very different, if they sing about sex or money like the stuff that is popular in the US, it is very frowned upon. They will most likely be 'cancelled' if they sing about that stuff, or everyone will hate the song. Girl groups in Korea are usually insulted if the show too much skin. Even if a female Kpop idol does something 'too sexy' in their MV or performance, many Korean netizens will probably attack them on the internet. International fans don't rly like that either. Also if you think TWICE has a lot of members, you should see IZ*ONE and NCT. :))

There was a lot mistreatment from people because people claimed that they are not pretty and thus will flop, but they just proved that passion and talent are the keys to success. Still so many people don't know about them, but the fandom growth was from 5 people to now is amazing.
