Americans are always very positive which can also be their downfall in many ways, as I’ve seen many a devastated American child when it comes to being disappointed. Whereas, Brits prepare themselves for disappointment so that when the inevitable happens they can say, “I knew it!” and move on quickly. Although, moving on quickly from football sometimes takes a little longer as many tears can be shed over an England loss 😭😜

There's no way there are only 250 goals scored in a season in the EPL. Last season for example just the top 4 sides scored 282 goals last season and there were 1024 in total. Loved this video and I watched it to the end. Shelby is clearly a real Premier League fan, and gets the spirit of following a team - repeated successes are boring and don't form character or prove devotion. At one company where I worked years ago, we hosted some visitors from China, and over lunch my manager (Leicester fan) made conversation by asking which team they supported. "Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal" was the first response of one visitor. Not...quite...heartfelt devotion to a team. Congratulations on pronouncing 'Leicester' correctly (it was indeed astonishing that they won the EPL - and Emma Raducanu is indeed great too). "Bournemouth has an amazing beach" - high praise indeed from a Floridian! You should ask their Tourism Board to sponsor you! Next sport quiz video - cricket, please. Lots of funny jargon in that sport.

Thanks for your sympathy for my team Fulham. When asked what football team you support and I reply Fulham most people say 'Oh I'm sorry for your pain'. We have over the years had many US players including Clint Dempsey and Brain McBride and they remain favourites with the fans. But as football fans we tend to think we will lose every game. But then if we win one game we think we will win the league and then when we lose we tend to want to sack the manager and the players. As for the quiz. The fact you eventually found out what the answers were was impressive enough. I still look on my phone as some evil magic out to trick me.

The Apple TV series Ted Lasso filmed its stadium scenes at Selhurst Park. The club's nickname became "The Eagles", inspired by Portuguese club Benfica, and the badge adopted an eagle holding a ball. Due to their location in the capital, Crystal Palace are involved in a number of local derbies, mostly across South London. They enjoy rivalries with both Millwall and former tenants Charlton Athletic. The club have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with Brighton & Hove Albion which developed after Palace's relegation to the Third Division in 1974, reaching its height when the two teams were drawn together in the first round of the 1976-77 FA Cup. The tie went to two replays, but the second replay ended in controversy after referee Ron Challis ordered a successful Brighton penalty to be retaken because of Palace player encroachment. The retake was saved, Palace won the tie 1-0 and a fierce rivalry was born.

In Germany the "Relegation" is only the fight about who can stay in the league (at the bottom) and who will get deported to the lesser league. Sometimes there might be extra games for relegation decision between the worst 2 clubs or the game that will make the decision because of resulting league points is called relegation. The result will be called "Abstieg" (Downgrade).
@barriehull70763 жыл бұрын
The club's highest ever league finish so far is third place in the old Football League First Division, which is now called the Premier League, achieved in the 1990-91 season. Palace hold the record for the most points for a relegated Premier League club with 49 (although that was in a 42-game season in 1992-93).[113] They are also the only club ever to be relegated from the Premier League even though they finished fourth from bottom, as it had been decided that at the end of the 1994-95 season, the bottom four clubs would be relegated in order to accommodate the league being reduced from 22 to 20 clubs for the 1995-96 season; Palace's points total that season of 45 is also the second-highest points total in Premier League history for a relegated club.[113] Palace hold the record for the most Play-off final wins (4) resulting in promotion to the top flight. Each of these play-off final wins occurred at a different location: Selhurst Park in 1989 (the first leg of the two-legged final was played at Ewood Park in Blackburn), old Wembley Stadium in 1997, Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in 2004, and new Wembley in 2013.
