LOVE your show! I recently turned 44, the age at which one starts obsessing over feeding birds, and I am so excited to learn all this bird biz!

Glad to see you back in action. I'm in tip top of NY state, we seem to follow your patterns closely. I'll have to start looking closer at the wing bars!

Mark, nice video. Do goldfinches ever use bird houses or do they mostly prefer to nest in trees? Thank you.
@MarksBackyardBirds4 ай бұрын
@@7777russ They do not use bird houses, they built cute little cup nests, a lot of times in small trees or shrubs

Mark, could you make a video about what / how to feed back yard crows AND the pros / cons of doing so? I've heard countless stories of people making friends with crow families, but would they attack or interfere with any other backyard birds, for better or worse? would they drive away pest birds and leave songbirds and woodpeckers and jays alone, or would they compete too much? also, what would you feed them? we currently don't see any crows in our back yard. we're more like to have black vultures a couple times a month, if anything. but I'm wondering if I should try to attract them, or how to do so, or if it is not a good idea at all? I live in central-eastern CT, if that's relevant.

Just throw out some corn! The corn is what they like!..they just come in and eat a few peieces and leave basically..they are pretty wary and dont ever just hang around …just long enough to,eat some corn and they are off to do something else! This is my experience anyway😆

I have a male goldfinch going into a bluebird house….the birdhouse has a nest in it from a wren bynthe looks of the nest and has only been there for five days..its april 21,2024 and im in west Michigan lower peninsula….what that male goldfinch is doing is odd…perhaps some sort of insect on that bitdhouse..or a seed on the stems of some of that nesting material perhaps..?

That is truly odd. Goldfinches are neither cavity nesters or insect eaters. Perhaps the seed stem
