Sweden, Germany and France were fairly easy. I keep waiting for a French speaking person from Belgium, Switzerland or Canada to throw people off, or a German speaking person from Austria or Switzerland. Agree with Eddie5150 on Vietnamese, as soon as I saw the captions I knew it was Vietnamese. Indonesia, I thought she was Filipino until she said "Bali". The flags on the tumbnail kinda give things away a little bit, but I was pretty sure the Brazilian was speaking Portugese and when she said she was from a big country, Brazil is one of the five biggest countries in the world.

Brazil was kinda obvious (I'm brazilian after all), but I'm still surprise that anybody picked Spain or Portugal after "big country" hint. Really Guys? Spain and Portugal can be fit inside the smallest states in Brazil, look at a map, Brazil is massive. France and Germany were very easy, mostly because are country's that we're used to see in movies and series. Specially French, I believe that is the most recognizable language after English. German can be confused with some close related country's. But the hardest for me was the Vietnam and Indonesia. I do believe that Thai and Viet is actually in the same language family due to its super close similarity, but the thing is.. both languages has adopted different influence to their vocabs, Thai took Pali influence (not Sanskrit as you said, eventhough Pali and Sanskrit also closely related) and Vietnam took Chinese influence, I do believe back then Viet and Siamese people could understand each others, it seems like Vietnam is the only region in Indochina where the people didn't really adopted Indian influences (unless for southern Vietnam).

@@Ix-.-xI I can hear some verbs in Thai that make sense in Vietnamese but that’s all. The Tai-Kradai peoples (Tai Dam and Tai Don) did influence to Vietnamese culture and language in the 1100’s. I would say archaic Thai and Viet could be mutually intelligible at some levels back then (Da Li Kingdom and Dai Viet Kingdom). However, the Thais later split into various groups with heavy Sanskrit and Indian influences, so we gradually became too different. Vietnam back then embraced Confucianism and Chinese culture as a model instead of Indianization like other states in ASEAN

Some other dialects have a 3-way merger and end up with just 4 unique tones. Figured out the Vietnamese lady when they put up the captions and I saw all the three letter words. Asian languages are definitely the hardest, I guessed the Indonesian lady based on looks, and when she didn't speak Spanish I knew she wasn't from the Philippines. Had a feeling the second girl was from Portugal, but another good question got big country and famous for beaches turned it into Brazil. Pure French and German are very distinctive sounding. "Ein" totally gives the German away, but you can't avoid using it. We sang "Stille Nacht" too, and "Oh Tannenbaum" as well here in Wisconsin.
