BCM is proud to announce the premiere of a new series of short films titled American Gunfighter. Each episode of American Gunfighter will feature a different instructor from the BCM Gunfighter program and talk one-on-one with them about how they got to where they are and what drives them do what they do.
In Episode 2, we talk with Tom Spooner of Northern Red.
Tom has dedicated his adult life to serving our country. His military career began in the 82nd Airborne where he did his first deployment as a private in Operation Desert Storm. His career lead him to 7th Special Forces Group as a Green Beret with deployments to Central and South America and culminated with 10 years at 1st SFOD-D. As an Operator Tom spent 40 months in combat, conducting over 1300 direct action missions. Tom's experience base includes Hostage Rescue, Kill/Capture and Helo based vehicle interdictions. He served as both an Assault Team leader and Sniper Team Leader in combat. Tom's extensive experience in executing missions that were often opposed by the enemies most hardened fighters created his passion for teaching the application of marksmanship and tactics in real world scenarios.

This guy really impressed me. Very thoughtful, very grounded, very measured way of speaking and articulating himself. The kind of guy who could snatch the life right out of you in a heartbeat if he wanted to but whose manner would immediately put you at ease if you were in his company. Glad to hear he fought his demons and won. Respect from the UK, Delta is no joke.

TakeThe RedPill That was a great comment I enjoyed reading it, I know he read it and enjoyed it as much as I did. This guy pretty much went as farrrrrrrr as possible in the American Special Forces game. He is an amazing piece of humanity. In all of these American Gunfighter videos I think this is absolutely the best due to him wanting to help his fellow veterans with something else beside more guns and more training. Great Stuff I liked them all, but this guy is just amazing! This is what being an American is about a lot of us in America don't remember what it is to be an American and just take it for granted nowadays and it makes me sick!

This video was from 7 years ago and I am so disturbed that it took 7 years for me to discover it on KZbin. I was never in the military but served over 30 years in Law Enforcement in one of the most dangerous cities in America. Tom Spooner has garnered my admiration and RESPECT for what he has/is doing for the WORLD, NOT just his community. His work expands outward to areas that are not recognized or talked about. God Bless you my brother and all of our war fighters here and abroad. Thank you for serving!

Inspirational. What an incredible human being. Not only being able to get over his demons, but being humble enough to realise that they appears WITH the entire support network intact and understanding others are not so lucky. Then having the foresight and good will to help others less fortunate to reduce that 22.Incredible.

That’s probably by far the best explanation of the military experience and the good and down sides to being a warrior. Also being truthful with your self and admitting doubts but, hunkering down and chop away at those doubts. I see this has been made 6 years ago I hope this great individual is still the same in mentality but graced with even more wisdom. Thank you for your experiences and willingness to share that with us the people. At times we are not worthy but thank you again for sharing those gems 💎.

I've watched this video many times and it never gets old. I regret having never joined the military and I appreciate the brotherhood that is formed through service to your Country and your fellow brothers and sisters in combat. When I think of the level of expertise and combat effectiveness that Tom has reached (and men like him), it makes me sleep very securely at night knowing that they are out there protecting all of us. I can't imagine being such a gifted warrior and then recognize that you are struggling, despite your support network, and make it through. Then to realize that, through your own experience, you have a gift of being able to mentor others through their struggles, is something that speaks to the character of the man. Maybe some day I will get to shake his hand and say thank you. To those of you on this thread that have served or are serving, know that I'm grateful for your service.

To BCM...I sincerely, hope you bring more of these stories to the forefront. I know you build guns...Damn Awesome One's too. But, this does so much for the Vets and the rest of the community. Tom said something, that stuck with me. We do things the old fashion way...The American Way....by doing it ourselves. Well said Tom. By the way, I have several excellent AR's...However, I always go for one of my 2 BCM's. Those rifles are built so well. It's a pleasure to shoot mine. And I shoot a lot. Probably 500 rounds per weekend...if not more. Respectfully, Dr. Rick S.

That is our God given role as the United States of America.

That's an exceedingly dangerous and asinine perspective to have. What if Russia decided we were oppressed and decided to invade America to "free it from the oppression of a republic". Would you agree with their "God-given role"? What stupidity. And yeh, I served in the US Army Infantry, Mechanized. I believe in the men/women that serve, but I often question the motives of our government. Which is what I think you are mainly about...but to think or say America is God's tool of freedom... dude, who are you, or we, to decide what's best for other countries? That's all.
