I was on the SS Constitution as a child with my moms dad, my mom, and her sister. I cannot for the life of me remember the exact year but it was in the early 90s, turned 10 in 92. Theater was at the bottom and I wanna say "Rookie of the Year" was shown. I suffered sea sickness and vomited spaghetti on the top deck one day. Sea sickness was a bummer, land sickness was also a bummer. One of the volcanoes erupted one evening and could totally c it from our cabin. It was awesome. Ate at the captains table one evening. Not sure how that came to happen but I imagine my gramps had a lot to do with it. I remember feeling weird swimming in the pools (think there were 2), a body of water (the pool) sitting high atop another body of water(the ocean). There was a waitress (Renee) in the main dining hall that had the sweetest smile. Minus the motion sickness issues and not feeling well for part of that vacation I still remember it fondly. Good times

We sailed this cruise on the SS Constitution. I remember they had a lounge dedicated to Princess Grace, as this was the same ship she sailed to Monaco for her marriage. Also, this ship figured in an episode of “I Love Lucy.” It was a lovely trip. Spent a free day in Maui, rented a jeep and rode around the entire island. So sorry to hear about the terrible destruction and loss of life due to the wild fires 8/23

I sailed on her , The Con , with mom ,dad and sister March of 64 ,Genoa to New York City with stops in ,Nice and Mediera .We were in tourist class , down the hall from the theatre , so not good at all , the service was poor , the weather was bad and we had to get dressed and walk down the hall every time we wanted to use the restroom .Also my parent's marriage was going through a rough time .

I just learned that Captain Haugh passed away earlier this year. He was such a nice person.

They held mass hiring in San Diego to launch the Independence. We had to provide our own flight to Hawaii if hired.

They held one in Seattle, too. That's where I was hired to start as a cocktail server, initially on the Connie for 3 weeks then over to the Indy. Worked on her for over 5 yrs as cocktail server, then Jr Assistant Purser, and finally as a Sales Associate in the Gift Ships. Very hard work but I loved it.
