He pre-judges everyone, especially on their looks and weight. However once he left American Idol and created the X-Factor and the talent shows, he looked towards talent. American Idol wasn't just based on talent, it was on looks as well. Unless you were absolutely phenomenal, your looks mattered.

Simon knows this cultural mindset and knows what realism looks like. It only do you have to be able to sing and look somewhat decent but you need to be able to handle the life of a star after you potentially win the show and have some sort of name. Simons entire career is based upon making people stars. He knows what to look for. He knows what star material is and what’s not. I wouldn’t judge what he says cuz he’s the same on and off camera

Throwing a tantrum on public television is not a way to become a star. Yes, some stars throw tantrums in public, but that is AFTER they have international fame not before. If they are declined by these shows just come back after they have had proper training and then blow them away. These people act like they are entitled to the competition because they want it, not because they have earned it.

The whole thing of " I don't want to be on American Idol, I want to be an American inspiration" is the worst thing anyone could say when they had the opportunity to be a part of the show. Why did he sign up in the first place? This show or should I call it an opportunity for people who were waiting their whole lives to become a famous singer is not exploiting anyone in some ways. What makes the show exploitative is some people who came onto the show because their parents said they have incredible voices in which they don't want to say the truth because it would hurt the child or adult's feelings. However, those are the people who have been exploited because it makes them believe they are great singers, however the judges say the terrifying truth that they are bad singers. Another thing that can make the show exploitative is the high confidence in some people when they audition and end up getting hopes up because they got rejected.
