American Impressionist Society - 24th Annual Juried Exhibition

The American Impressionist Society’s 24th Annual National Juried Exhibition is being held at Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville, Delaware in the historic Brandywine Valley.
The exhibition features 167 juried paintings representing many of the highly acclaimed American Impressionist artists actively working today. An additional 25 paintings by AIS Masters, officers, and founders are also included in the exhibition. Paintings include oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and gouache. AIS received 1,657 entries for consideration and a five-member jury panel scored the work in a blind process. All jurors are AIS Signature members.
AIS Master Quang Ho served as Judge of Awards. Over $75,000 in cash and merchandise awards were presented, including a $12,000 cash award for Best of Show. A printed exhibition catalog is available at the gallery.
“AIS presents our annual exhibitions in different locations throughout the US. When selecting where to hold our exhibitions we search for galleries that embrace Impressionism paired with interesting and inspiring scenery for our artists to paint” remarked Liz Ahrens, AIS Executive Director. “The Brandywine Valley is steeped in history, is home to distinguished museums, boasts thousands of acres of gardens, and is easily accessible for many of our members. Somerville Manning Gallery is highly respected and located in a historic mill” continued Ahrens.
AIS does not charge a fee to their members to participate in the opening week events except for the workshop. AIS membership is open to anyone painting or studying in the style of Impressionism. The American Impressionist Society, Inc., is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization with over 2,100 active members from across the US. AIS was founded in 1998 to promote the appreciation of American Impressionist art through exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs. Membership is open to US citizens and legal residents of the US. Artists must be current AIS members to be eligible to submit entries for AIS exhibitions.

Please tell a little about this juried exhibition and it’s history for those of us not in the know! Also, the piano piece is a bit unnecessary in my opinion. Thank you for the video. So many talented artists!
