I wish this video had subtitles. Very interesting topic. British General Cornwallis who surrendered to Washington and the French at Yorktown was later made the governor of India. There is definitely an interesting connection there.

Almost no mention of Marathas, when they were the supreme Indian power of 18th century & defeated both Afghans & Brits on their own, while Haider & Tipu allied with French & even promised them helping in colonisation of India & even invited Ottomans to invade India.

Very aptly put. Also there is no mention of the great Nana Phadnavis and the alliance with French ambassador Chevalier de St. Lubin around 1777 and later the humiliating defeat of the British in 1779. The Marathas's defeated the invader Tipu and finished off that chapter. So did American fancy and fantasy of Hyder Ali as bulwark against the British. Tipu might have been born in India but was a descendant to foreign born invaders just a few generations before his and had no connection to the ethos of India. Of course the Maratha's allied with the British (another invader) but it was a strategic one born out of political complications of the time.
@torrentminer23062 жыл бұрын
@@tatvafnu6604 " political complications" "Foreign born invaders" feelings hurt..? loolll India, Or Bharat was not even remotely in the minds of Tipus,Hyder alis, Marathas or Mughals, Every body was behind power,saving their throne and propagation of their ideologies. So any one who wants to take sides with a group of power hungry maniacs of the past who cared nothing about the collateral of wars..is forgetting it was a time when Power was the only religion,dharma or whatever fancy name they want to give.. India lost about 10 to 12 percent of population to Wars at times.. See the population changes over the history and you will know. It's history, It's interesting to study and to understand and may be prevent shit like the genocide of Armania, Holocaust or Forced famines of past in India, but if people get mentally and emotionally unstable over it ..They need counseling...
@tatvafnu66042 жыл бұрын
@@torrentminer2306 With all due respect, that it was only for power is oh such a pedestrian take on things! I am sure you have not read about contemporary accounts like Abbé Carré account on the intentions of Shivaji Maharaj's exploits as he learned from his commanders or of Nanasaheb's Peshwa's communication about the reason of the north Indian campaigns or of the letter to Nana Phadnavis by the Peshwa's ambassador at the Nizam's court - Govindrao Kale's about how the goal set by Shivaji Maharaj 100 years prior is now getting realized. Or anything related to getting rid of the foreign "Turks" (as the Islamic invaders were known then) in repeated communications of the Maratha history. I'd know that very well - as it passed in our ancestral records. Superficial knowledge leads one to think that it is all only for power with zero principled intention! Yes, power politics is no doubt there but if you throw off the banana and just consume the peel, the argument that you set forth becomes unfortunately prominent. Need to scratch beyond the surface - researching history is no child's play.
@torrentminer23062 жыл бұрын
@@tatvafnu6604 The Maratha Fixation is strong in your post.. IF they were so driven to drive the Turks out why didnt they just unite under one banner.. Rally up with rest of India.?Even Rani Laxmi bhai fought only when the Britishers wanted to take away Jhansi as they didn't consider her adopted son a proper heir..She was threatened by the mutineers and held against them.. and waited for British support, Ultimately the miscommunication and fearful action Britishers lead to her rebellion.. You speak as if Shivaji Mahraj didn't have one single "turk" in his army.. OR the Opposing Turks didnt have Hindu kings supporting.. Let it rest.. It was the Lal,Pal, And Bal team along with rest of early educated thinkers who built the foundations of our freedom struggle.. All of Kings were Kings.. Nothing more, All they wanted were their kingdoms.. India's freedom was bought with the blood and struggle of common folk.Lead by visionaries.. Not kings and their swords..
