Very true sir. A country of such wisdom/people and high spiritual value , ethical and cultural values. You are right, due to our prior leadership of the country we were lead to an opposite (negative) direction. On the contrast, countries like Singapore prospered with a diversified population . How could we have progressed with so many restrictions, narrow visioned and corrupt leadership. Hopefully after achieving success, India doesn’t become selfish & arrogance like some other countries and unlike those countries it shares its prosperity with other unprivileged nations. It will be a successful world if we all finish the race of humanity, together not competitively .

Modi knows what is needed in India because he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth! He earned what he got! The ‘clever’ among the young see Modi appreciated his Bharat’s positive culture which goes back to hundreds of years. In this era we know Bharat’s loyalists are proud to do so.The excellence allowed faithful Indians to survive -as well- allowed those converted (mostly by abuse) still to use Bharat’s culture lost in borrowed cultures. It is the duty of ‘Bharatians’ to remind India’s minorities about this -so that we can progress together!

The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else. . . .Theodore Roosevelt 1915. It is all the more true now.

I worry about these Indians who take on US citizenship. The US and India haven't always had the same interests. Indeed many would say there are key areas where they have conflicting areas CURRENTLY like for example BRICs. Citizens of countries should only support the interests of their own country. When you don't you have situations like Ilhan Omar, a Congresswoman who has stated that we will use her position to help a foreign country, in her case Somalia. So, can we expect Indians who become American citizens to support America first and not consider the interests of India when participating in our politics? Or are they going to be foreign agents and hijack our political insitutions on behalf of India. This is a very serious question indeed and goes far back into America's history with even President Theodore Roosevelt addressing it over one hundred years ago.
@GehraRajyaKaAnmolTattu7 ай бұрын
I am a US citizen of Indian origin. It is indeed an interesting question. So far, fortunately, I haven't had to choose. I doubt very much that India and the US will ever be adversaries in the military sense. I fully expect that in the coming decades, we will see economic competition however. However, much like the US, India is an open society and market too. The largest search engine in India is Google, the largest online retailer is Amazon. So I suspect it would mostly take the shape of deeper integration of the two markets, greater movement of people, ideas and capital back and forth. Both societies value diversity of ideas, so I suspect to most Americans, India will become less exotic, just different.
@GeneJohnson-vy2ci7 ай бұрын
@@GehraRajyaKaAnmolTattu The problem is that we have in our country a bunch of people who do not vote for the interests of America, but instead the interests of the country they came from. That is injurious to our society and prevents us from the flexibility to conduct foreign policy in a way best for America. I mention Ilhan Omar to show it’s not just a problem with Indians, but it is a problem with many immigrant groups. And it’s not a new problem. Here’s what President Theodore Roosevelt said about it in 1915: “The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.” So even when we just had Europeans coming to America it was a bad situation but of course with EVERYONE coming here it’s much worse. And I do see people from India who obtain US citizenship being part of the problem. I have seen many such people on KZbin.
@GehraRajyaKaAnmolTattu7 ай бұрын
@@GeneJohnson-vy2ci I am only one person, and I can’t presume to speak for all Indian Americans. So far, my voting has been driven by what I believe is good for America. However, I haven’t really found myself in a situation where I had to choose between interests of India and that of America. Should that happen however, I would of course favor America. Suspect most Indian Americans would vote similarly. Hard to speak in hypotheticals. What scenario do you envision where this becomes a defining factor? Hyphenation is what America imposes on me, not something I choose. White immigrants are soon just Americans, period. Immigrants of any other race are hyphenated. After centuries of living here black people are still African Americans.

On average, is there more discrimination against the Indian population in the USA, than any other minority there?.. Like the Blacks, Hispanics, Arabs, Jews, Africans, Pakistanies, Chinese, Amerindians, Eastern Europeans and as of that matter the LGBTQ and many others? I doubt it! It shouldn't be exaggerated that discrimination is directed only against the Indians in the US with more frequency than any other ethnic group in the US. As she was indicating by her question in this interview. America in some places is still very discriminatory, in the raw and primitive, almost 'pagan' like way against the minorities. And despite of what they would like to say and do! And regardless of how much they're praising their own greatness and that of the American Democracy, as the 'one and only in the world' that no other country can compere with(?)... With all those fancy slogans of 'commercial democracy' for the business purposes. America inside of her own borders is still very violent, ignorant and hypocritical society with the culture of violence (just like in the Putin'z Russia today). Specially after the September 11 of 2001 with the unfortunate and very unthoughtful response of Gorge Bush with his attack against the Saddam Hussein's Iraq that made international and domestic situation of the US even worse and more precarious for every one on this living and dying earth. That only very few understand without blaming and looking for someone else to be responsible for it!...
