As a chelsea fan Drogba is an absolute legend for my club and Ivory coast. He gave Chelsea so many pinch yourself moments and the 2004-2007 period will always be the best period of many Chelsea fans memories along with the short period Ancelotti was the manager.

Talking about people only caring about strikers, in the 2002 World Cup Ronaldo and Rivaldo actually didn't pass that much the ball to each other, when the coach asked them for more passing, after he left Rivaldo said "Garrincha would always pass to Pelé and now everyone just remembers Pelé" hahaha

Very few greats were wonder kids and very few wonder kids become greats. People look at players as if progression is always linear. But players tend to have a lot of ups and downs before they achieve greatness. This is especially so for strikers. Most strikers who become greats start hitting their peak at 25/26. Very few are just great from the beginning and continue to be great. The Mbappes, Haalands, Messis and Ronaldos are extreme outliers. And we still have to see how Mbappe and Haaland’s careers pan out, because there have been plenty of players who reach their peaks very early and then get burnt out by the time that other players start to reach their peaks.

7:14 There is so much talent in the world that never see a football field due to obstacles in their life. I know in the US so many players better than the ones that play in college since it's expensive to play in competitive leagues and also manage the time to support your family and plan to go to college. The best I've seen got sponsors from local families to play college but even going thag far there's more go against you that for - miracles happen!

true, imagine if Lamine Yamal was born in the usa, there wouldnt be any academies and due to child labour laws he probably wouldnt be able to join professional teams to make a name to eventually get good enough to join the national team. Bro would be stuck in fucking high school. Especially under basketball type rules where they have to go to college to waste time playing in a lower league and players like lebron playing at 18 are rare. This is also why euros are taking over american baketball, because the euro players are playing professionally at as low as 16 and all the time americans waste in school or lower leagues the euros are honing their skills and teamplay and confidence under pressure etc etc.

Ooh now that you have covered the clutch Drogba, I offer you his contemporary, who wrecked havoc in Premier League, and is now back as the assistant Manager at his main club, the Bagman, the box maniac, Ruud Van Nistelrooy aka Rutgerus Johannes Martinus van Nistelrooij, Ruud the ruthless, the Ruud boy. He was an absolute obsessed goal scorer, with enough goals to enjoy a long video.

Nowadays it's more rare for players to grow steadily into elite world star players, what with the internet and how extensive scouting has become, these days you either become the hype or never measure up to expectations. But football players do come in all shapes and sizes and will always develop differently. Compared to US sports there are simply more variables than having a draft, how tall you are or what your batt avg is.

This video is not quite acurate Drogba used to score all the time, not only when they need it. He was Premier League (PL) top scorer 2006/2007. Always very consistent on top 3 scorrer on PL. I have no idea where the original video creator find his stats.

4-5-5-8-10-11-12-20-29 Those are his league goals, from lowest to highest.. So he actually wasn't very consistent at all 🤨 He had that one amazing season, and another really good one.. Those other 7 seasons are below average, or even terrible.
