It is not that we “Reverts” know more. (I am a revert of 43 years now. I was 17 when I became a Muslim. I am a mother of 5 Muslim Adult Children & Grandmother to 13 Muslim Grandchildren, AlhamduAllah!!) but we have the experience of living on the opposite side. We’ve experienced life without Islam, that people born into Islam have never had to experience. Many take Islam for granted, or they just follow it without really asking themselves “Why do I believe what I believe?”. Just like this young man asked himself. Allah instills an innate sense of his existence in all of us, from the time we are in our mother’s womb. It is that sense (Fitrah) that makes us ask ourselves at some point, why we are following a particular belief system, or a lack thereof? It is Allah guiding us back to the straight path! Some people ignore or override that feeling, because they are comfortable in how they are living their life, even if they know it is wrong! But those that choose to embrace that questioning & find Islam, know that it is purely from our willingness to submit our will to Allah. That is why being a Muslim means “One who submits their will to Allah”. It is my sincerest prayer that all people embrace Islam & submit their will to Allah!! I'm a revert. In 2019 I crawled out of the opioid epidemic. They kept me on Tramadol for over a decade instead of diagnosing my pain and treating the cause. I kept trusting and believing that I needed the pain management until finally I got fed up with being doped up and out of my head all of the time. It took a horrific 16 weeks of intense suffering to get off the Tramadol. Then it took 5 long years before the NHS would FINALLY diagnose my pain. I was suffering so much pain all of that time and begging for diagnosis and treatment. I finally got an MRI after my zillionth A&E visit screaming in agony. A huge internal mess was discovered and now I will face complicated surgeries and a couple of years of recovery - which will include weight loss. All those years on opioids doped me and debilitated me and I became obese and sick as well as suffering the chronic internal damage and disease. Over a decade of me suffering while there was an internal disaster growing and growing and all I got was opioids that destroyed so many years of my life. I am so glad to be free.

Everytime you feel attraction to addiction, tell yourself: "No, I will do something better." Go to a Help Center. Write down for yourself which things make you happy instead of addiction. Sport with non-addicted friends, family excursion, spent time in nature or gardening or whatever, Reading Qur'an, learning more about Islam like sira an-nabawi, read alone or with others ar rahiq ul makhtum (the sealed nectar, a very recommendable book,) etc. It will make you really happy, may Allah reinforce you to take this steps to take back your life in your own hands. Revive the light within you.

I could really relate to this one, that was the same way I found God, through science which is so ironic to some people. The more you actually study science and the world and the universe it becomes so painfully evident that there has to be a creator behind all this. It is undeniable at that point because anyone who actually understands how to study the world could see that logically all signs point to there being a central creator. I've looked into not just science but also different faiths of spirituality and the deeper you get into it, the more it just affirms this deep knowing inside that there is indeed only one God.
