Seen a NASCAR spec 426 twin four barrel cross-ram intake hit 880 something horsepower 840 torque IIRC. The TV show did _all_ the American well known engines, 409 427 428 455 along with a few others, and with all of them the that sweet sweet V8 exhaust roar was predominant in the dyno runs. *Until* they put the Hemi on... All you could hear was that suction pump mill pulling through those twin four barrels and ramming it through that tuned cross-ram. The rulebook for NASCAR & NHRA was written by the 426 Hemi. Or more correctly it was written by all the other manufacturers 😭 at the governing bodies because they couldn't get that much power even with that 7 foot long timing chain twin cam monstrosity that was built. There was even a dual distributor 426 design that was built just to make sure the competition knew their place. 4 of them built and ordered destroyed but one was saved. Still the champ. 8.9 at 151MPH turn key at a dealer. Just don't forget to buy the parachute before you leave the dealer so you can put your fully stock car on the track.😉 Mopar _is_ the Beast.🤘🏻😎

Great video happy to see our Aussies friends also love American muscle cars. Interesting how people in other parts of the world view these cars and admire them as much as we do.

Nice collection! Having owned 5 Camaros in the 1967 to 1970 vintage, including one turbocharged, I thought I was pretty fast. But my biggest shock occurred when my boss casually informed me he had a Charger with a 440, six pack carbureted engine and 4 speed. Proof of power? - Dropping it to 3rd gear and flooring it at 80mph would briefly light the tires. Case closed.

Richard Petty’s actual Superbird went up for auction last year. It didn’t sell, but the final bid was $3.5 million. A numbers matching street hemi version can go for big $$$. I’d have to go with a replica too. Beautiful car, anyway!

Those Winged Warriors, when you drove them in the city, they were really bad. Those wings and nose cones did nothing except getting damaged by people who forgot the extra length on the front. They were meant to do over 100 MPH in order for all that equipment to do the job intended. No racecar in NASCAR history was ever baned for being unfair until the Daytona and Superbird showed up. Although recently there is an argument that FORD did a 200 MPH before the Superbird, but that is arguably arguable. The Richard Petty 43 was recorded at just over 200 MPH on the big race tracks.

The claimed spec. for the Trans Am seems wrong. By the time that particular Trans Am came out, it was MUCH weaker than earlier years. Also, he associated 6.6 liters with the 455. However 6.6 liters is 402 cubic inches. This was no match for Pontiac's "SD 455" engine of earlier years.

Actually, the Cleveland design is neither small or big block. It is a design sort of on it's own - having characteristics of both. Also you should realise that this is GM terminology. Small block and Big block. You'll find that Ford and Chrysler had their own naming terminologies even if their specs did fit into the Chev ones (eg "A" engine and "B" engine, with further derivatives of these as "LA" or Light "A" engine (273, 318, 340, 360) and RB for Raised-Deck "B" engine, such as the 426W, 426H, and 440) The SBC (small block Chev) family were, like the Ford Windsor engines, a true small block with 60 degree V while the Clevo, with it's wide 90 degree V configuration and port layout more closely resembled a small sized big block.
