As an American "Football" fan, you obviously know far more than I do about the various specialist members of an NFL team. Some of them appear to play only a few minutes each game. So, it surprised me to learn on the BBC today that five of the top eight punters in today's NFL are Australians who originally played AFL, and some of the best kickers were Irish Gaelic Footballers.

Makes sense. Punting and kicking is much more important in AFL and IGF, so those skills get developed more. It also draws in good punters/kickers as they make a difference in those sports. NFL and both rugby league and union are much more dependent on carrying and throwing (whether forwards or sideways).

It's not that Silva was that calm and cool on the goal line, he simply had no other choice seeing at first he merely got his knee to it but had no strecth left to clear it with his knee, but controlling the ball with his knee did gave him the opportunity to properly clear it with his feet. Everyone that has played football understands this, which I don't mean as critic towards you to be clear.

This list is a load of rubbish. There are two Man City defenders in it. Arsenal had the best defense in the Premier League that season, and none of their defenders was featured. A good defender doesn't need to slide tackle; a good defender gets the job done well before the need to slide.
