@@jacobh674 took APUSH back in 2018. Got an A in the class and a 5 on the test. Now I’m at UC Berkeley, my big takeaway from apush is don’t be afraid to utilize the internet to learn difficult concepts. To this day I usually avoid taking notes from the book and rely on office hours, lectures, and youtube to learn. Focus on understanding and how best you can learn the material and the grade will come. You don’t gotta slave over grinding textbook notes, work smarter not harder

That picture of the model of the bomb at the end freaks me out because it's so small. I mean, it's big, but when you consider that it leveled a city, it's just scary to think about how much power can be contained in such a small thing.

Just wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed your videos this year. My son is in AP History and he watches your videos along with reading each chapter. I started watching as well and we've had some great discussion after many of the chapters. Thanks for making history such a joy for our kids to learn.

When you say about half of Native Americans fighting in WW2 would not return to reservation life, is that because about half of those NAs fighting in the war DIED or is it because they chose not to return or is it both?

I will add additional facts to your video to allow any person understand the video better (Especially APWH or APUSH) 1. December 7, 1941- Japan attacked Pearl Harbor Why? First it is because the US has pushed the US into War. How? First- embargo, which cut 88% of oil and 75% of natural resources. Japan has no natural resources, so that means their country wouldn't function correctly. (Imagine the US losing 88% of the oil supply. How much chaos would this cause!) The US then froze Japan's assets in the US (it is like China not allowing Apple control their company in China because they did not satisfy the government (or in a personal case, you need to pay your debts), and finally broke the 1911 trade treaty between US and Japan. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6Gbq2R3aLmmrrc, good video to check out if you want to know more details). So if Japan would move out of Indochina and china, they thought that communism would take over under the USSR. (In 1941, Japan thought the USSR and US would harm their rule). They were correct. After the war, communist states like PRC, DPRK, and North Vietnam sprung up. So Japan was in a huge dilemma. 1- Choke to death due to lack of natural resources or 2- Let communism take over and pose a huge threat for Asia SO Japan's leaders thought to go to war to US and UK so they could then take the natural resources out and keep afloat. 2. The US government was definitely not isolationist. The US had sent huge amounts of weapons to China and UK at this time. The US government even allowed airmen to join these two nations air forces. 3. The Great Depression ends when US entered WWII. However, Germany ended its depression in 1935. Hitler took the German mark (which had been greatly inflated before 1933) and backed it by work not by gold. (So a mark could be bought by one marks worth of labor instead of backing by a central bank). Next he allowed huge new project like building the autobahn, building more public housing, and improving infrastructure (materials like concrete must be made in Germany). Finally, Adolf Hitler allowed a "strength through joy" program were Germans could have a 40 hour week (that was very rare in Europe in 1935), a car for every German family (where Volkswagen came from), and was encouraged to have vacations. If FDR allowed a works based currency and more public programs, the US would if not surpassed Germany in terms of economic recovery. 4. While US citizens were being rationed heavily, the US was sending over hundreds of tons of supplies to the USSR, so FDR could keep Uncle Joe in the war. This included many trucks which Stalin did use to deport the people of the Caucasus mountains. In other words, the US help kept one of the most murderous regimes in history a live and running. (I thought ww2 was fighting to end dictatorships. Not really....) Full list of supplies sent to the USSR-www.jrbooksonline.com/fdr-scandal-page/lend.html 5. African Americans- Segregation was a huge problem in the US army. They had segregated units in the Army. African Americans were often treated worse than their white comrades. For example, they would usually handle corpses. Also, many African American pilots in Germany POW camps never were treated worse than their white comrades. When the African POWs went back to the US (where Jim Crow Laws were still there), the troop ships sending them back were segregated. However, African troops fighting for the Axis were not discrimmated. They were allowed to have the same rights as their white "Aryan" comrades did. People from all over Europe (from Spain to Russia), India (Aza Hind), Muslims from the Balkans, Slavs, Central and Eastern Asians fought in the wehrmacht and Waffen SS. I thought the Nazis would only allow pure Aryans to fight in the Waffen SS. Not anymore. The SS provided these colored troops with special rations for their religion to Qurans for the Islamic Troops. 6. I thought the Axis were racist- not true. The US especially proved this wrong. Germany has no whites only signs. (They did say no Jews because the Nazis thought the Jews ruined Germany in WW1). Jim Crow, Order 9066, segregation in the Army, the list goes on. However, the Axis armies were fully integrated with no segregation. Indians fighting with both the Germans and Japanese and Africans fighting for Italy and Germany. Even the POW camps were less racisit than the whole USA. 7. How did the Soviets stop Germany- Simple LEND LEASE- Germany controlled the main coal fields and wheat fields in the Ukraine, but the soviets still could be provided by fresh weapons from the UK , US, and itself. 8. I will not talk about the first two conferences- but I will spend a lot of time on Yalta. Why- Yalta forced the UK and US to send over captured Russian POWs liberated from German POW camps, Russian soldiers who fought for Germany, and refugees from Russia fleeing back to USSR where they either died in gulag or got executed. However, Stalin would not let the thousands of allied pows in the USSR return, which many did die in the USSR. (I don't see this in my AP world book). This is what operation keelhaul was about. (Don't believe me? - Google Operation Keelhaul). It also allowed the USSR a free hand in eastern Europe- making Lenin's dream of communism spread a reality. Worst of all, Churchill allowed the Soviets to control Poland. A huge betrayal to the polish people and why the WW2 started was wasted. (the polish government in exile was greatly betrayed.) 9. The firebombing of Japan was one of the worst war crimes in the pacific war. About 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 civilians died in firebombing raids on the major Japanese cities. These raids did not stop the production of tanks or planes to stop. The Axis bombing raids would never surpass 50,000 killed. The Japanese would already begin sending messages of peace in July 1945. The atomic bombs were unnecessary. Japan was greatly defeated. The US had done a very good job in sinking cargo ships, which means even if Japan would resist, they would of ran out of supplies. (Remember how I said that Japan had no natural resources? ) 10- Extra info I would like to say- Rhine Meadows Camps-NO they were not a secret nazi concentration camp- these were General Eisenhower's death camps were 1,000,000 German pows died due to Andersonville like conditions. (What's Andersonville- Better study your civil war notes!) Morgenthau Plan- Plan to allow the US to completely destroy Germany's infrastructure and even allowed for the genocide of the Germans. Look at what happened Post War Germany- many civilians killed in reprisals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGTTf4KGf9lsadU kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5y0Z31re5VketE kzbin.info/www/bejne/npPTZ2SchLt5l6c Any questions- please comment below-

You sure do know a lot about ww2. I am glad someone really does know about the real story on ww2. The reason why Germany rose so quickly was not of the public works you stated above, but was because they were free from usury. A have a few questions- What is your opinion of Churchill? Do you think Hitler was evil? What do you think about the Holocaust?
