great video. I found out that in at least one State, Missisippi, prisoners are working in the private sector fast food industry and the wages go to the prison. And the kicker is that these prisoners are usually denied early release on parole (for some unknown reason, as they are clearly not a threat to society)

to be fair, the scale and size of the US is immense. we shouldn't have that many prisoners; other nations think it takes 20 minutes to drive from NYC to LA.

Oh, what happens next? It's obvious. Now they need to drive up their stock price by aggressively investing venture money into expanding their customer base. If the stocks fall, your economy is collapsing, and you need to buy them out. You cannot bankrupt a prison, after all -- it's crucial for a functioning society.
