This song was originally written for on of the Klitshko brothers, I think Witaly, who are boxers. He decided it was too ‘hard’ so they had to reimagine it, but a lot of the metaphors are related to boxing - the fists breaking you and the countdown. Till never says ‘ten’ he says ‘Aus’ which means out. I hope that helps. You should definitely watch the ‘making of’ video, they go into it.

Hi BP, I don't know if Rammstein had this in mind but I had to think of the "Niebelungen Lied" the great German myth/saga. Dwarfs are mining treasures which end up being hidden in the river Rhein. Also is Snow-white a German tale ,, collected and written down by the Grimm Brothers. My first guess for this song would be a big mashup of German history/saga (a Rammstein theme) and perhaps multi meaning in other directions. As a German with no more background knowledge of this song I am, other than that, clueless as you guys😂.

Most people don’t know that another idea for a music video was the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima... Paul Landers (Riff) Interview MTV Masters, Germany 2001. The idea was that the band would be the crew of the plane that would drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945. During the chorus the mushroom cloud of the explosion would be shown. It would then go on to show the conflict of the band, and how they were able to drop the bomb, knowing that people down there died a horrible death. nice Reaction, greetings from Germany❤

the countdown is actually a knock out counting...1-9 and then "out". the lyrics are all metaphors for a boxer. The song was meant to be the entry hymn for the boxer Vitaly Klitschko but he/his mangement didn´t take it. But Rammstein didn´t throw that commission work into the bin but took it for themselves and made a random and in behalf of the lyrics very far-fetched Snow White fairytale video just for fun....I really think it was just a mocking idea because the managment of Klitschko refused it by arguing "the song is too hard" = So "too hard for a world champion boxer" but not too hard for a Snow White Tale..

well apparently the song was written as an into song to one of the legendary German boxers hence why the lyrics about the fist and stuff but then they decided not to give it to the boxer cuz it was "too dramatic". that's the lore of the song LOL.
