You are going to have an amazing journey by jumping down the "Ren" rabbit hole. Its not all as serious but Ren really has been battling demons since he was misdiagnosed after contracting Lyme disease. He was given meds for years that he didn't need and it messed him up a bit. He is currently in Canada getting treatment and will be there for months. He is doing much better now but has a ways to go still. If you want rap then check out his songs- "Illest Of Our Time", "The Hunger", "What You Want" or "Genesis". He also has an amazing voice which you can hear in a song called "Chalk Outlines" and his cover of "I Shot The Sheriff" I highly recommend you jump head first down that rabbit hole because its a pretty wild ride!

Ren is nuts. There are some songs like this where you might cry. Others like the Schreeches tale trilogy are like listening to a novel, The Hunger is basically him proving he can rap rap in any style. Genesis is half rap half song but showing he can produce beats. His previous band that busked - the big push- had an amazing set and one of the videos was a Marley mashup of I shot the sheriff, road to Zion and callbacks to Rappers Delight.

This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet.

THANK YOU SO MUCH KSO!!! I have been waiting for you to check out some Ren. He is a MULTI-MULTI-TALENTED artist. He can rap rap, he can sing, he is sick af on guitar, he makes all his own beats and he has a crazy life story that has influenced his music. His story-telling is also NEXT LEVEL!! I found him like 3-4 months ago and he is now one of my favorite artists. You HAVE to check out his "Tale of Jenny Screech and Violet"(full version) and dont get turned off by the length cuz it is so worth it, "Genesis", his newest joint "Illest of our time", "Chalk Outlines", "Power", his stuff with the Band he used to play with called The Big Push -check out their mashup of "I Shot the Sherriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop", etc.. You really can't go wrong. Ren has so many crazy dope songs that I really think you would really fuck with. He does incorporate his life struggles so some are serious but he can also snap off and do some super dope Hip Hop. He is one of the most talented artists I've seen. Give him a chance beyond Hi Ren.
