Met Dylan and it was one of those moments where I thought he looked familiar, but couldn't quite place him lol Nice guy. Our flight was delayed heading to Dublin airport, and we both, he and I, just stood there staring at the board, hoping it would change. Typically freezing inside, and he wore a massive woollen knitted scarf covering half his body. Very polite guy.

Dylan rocks! Yes, that's true about Americans with Irish ancestors....My family included. My brother was told, when visiting Ireland, "no, you're not Irish; you're American".

Dylan was one of the stars of one of my all-time favourite comedy series, Black Books (also starring Bill Bailey and Tamsin Greig). Definitely worth watching. And yes, you got emigrate/immigrate exactly right - you emigrate from somewhere and immigrate to somewhere. E as in export, I as in import.

Emigrate= leave your country to go to another. Immigrate= Same thing, but from the perspective of the local population. English person: "I am emigrating from England to France." French Person: "He is an immigrant." (Someone who emigrated from England).

My Father was Scottish my Mother English. I was Born in Derbyshire England. So im Derbyshire 1st English 2nd .Not Scottish i recognise my Scottish heritage of course .But with my Derbyshire accent if i went shouting the Odds in Glasgow id get thumped in short order .

He is Brilliant, I actually saw him on that tour. You should do an episode of his sitcom Black Books, he runs a book shop, something he is as well suited as Basil is to running a hotel.

For comedians starting try and find Ross Noble - saw him live last month and from what I can tell his whole act was starting the gig to some degree - laughed myself sore the whole time!

This special was in 2005, which was 2 years into the invasion of Iraq, and it became apparent that the US had lied about WMDs in Iraq, and the UK was pulled into a war that the vast majority of people were against, hence the negative attitudes to the US at the time. There was also a feeling of how could the US elect someone as stupid as Bush, because in 2005, there was a certain standard to be US president. You needed to speak well all the time, be on message, not make spelling mistakes. Bush was seen as a complete idiot, incompetent, and a liar. American culture at the time though was hyper proud and hyper patriotic, so popular culture was flooded with pro-american movies, music, etc. That created a lot of bad feeling in the UK and other countries, it was very jarring from an outside perspective.
