Back in the 70’s, we couldn’t land at Shannon because there was cows on the runway. This is true. I was coming from Canada and I had never heard of such thing.

If you can find Dara OBriains stand up where he compares the catholic and Protestant congregation saying the Lord’s Prayer at a mixed marriage ceremony it is brilliant.
@Dreyno7 ай бұрын
As a product of a Irish mixed marriage, I resent having my people made mockery of 😬
@Dreyno7 ай бұрын
On the topic though, I went to an Anglican school but half the pupils were Catholic. Every day after assembly the headmaster would lead the school in the Lord’s Prayer. All the Catholics would say it really loudly and then stop suddenly where the Catholic version ended. Some of the Protestants would join in for extra comedic effect. We never tired of the hilarity of seeing the headmaster’s angry face in six years. 😂

Ó Briain is an Irish language surname. That's why it's pronounced Oh-Breen. O'Brien is just the anglicized version of the surname. If you want a good Irish comedian skit, look up How Ireland Dealt With Lunatics by Tommy Tiernan.

Yes, peoples' emotional reactions can be weird sometimes: I was in a cinema theatre watching Francis Ford Coppola's brilliant "Apocalypse Now". There is that scene when a whole bunch of Vietnamese fishermen thought to be Vietcongs get gunned down at point blank by the American soldiers. A young Vietnamese girl goes towards a barrel and ... gets shot too. The audience is "dead" (if I may say so) silent. The soldier opens the barrel and ... pulls a puppy out of it. The puppy goes "yip" ... and the entire audience goes "ooooooooooooooooooooh" ... Never take it for granted that people will feel more for you than for a dog!!! :o(
