I live in Stirling where I grew up, so I’ve been to all these places around me, many times in my life. The Falkirk Wheel is a wonder of engineering and well worth a visit. The Kelpies are magnificent especially at night when they are lit from inside with varying colours. Scotland is such a beautiful country with so much history and so much to see, you really must visit 💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Falkirk wheel is genius engineering it takes only a few Kwh to turn it because the gondolas carrying the barges are automatically always exactly the same mass on either side no matter how much either barge is loaded. A full barge can go up while an empty barge goes down because enough water is displaced out of the "heavier" gondola to perfectly balance with the "lighter" one.

It was here where two important battles were fought and won during the Scottish wars of independence against the English, first by William Wallace in 1297 and then by Robert the Bruce in 1307.

Glasgow has its own whisky distillery too, right on the River Clyde, in a building that was part of the shipbuilding industry. St Mungo is the affectionate name for St Kentigern, mungo means darling. I live in Glasgow, we also have a Viking history that connects St Mungo to the Kings of Strathclyde. You'll have to visit here 💛, bring your wellies and your waterproofs, it rains a lot 🌦️ (Edinburgh is drier but colder, and completely different. ) 😊xx

James the sixth of Scotland is the confusing King you are thinking of. He inherited the English throne while still King of Scotland in 1603 in an event known as the Union of the Crowns. Scotland and England were still independent kingdoms from each other but both ruled by James. He is also known as James the first (of England) because there had not been any Kings of England named James prior to him.

Tom Scott did a video on the Falkirk Wheel. It really is a special piece of engineering. I would also highly recommend looking into Charles Rennie Mackintosh a bit more. I don't think people understand how important he and his wife was to the world.

The paths on the side of the canals are known as Tow Paths as these were used by the Horses to tow the barge along the waterway.

Glasgow is a very harsh city but underneath its beautiful... Like a lot of cities i guess... Glasgow is special though as it was and still is a jewel of the industrial revolution that somehow got forgot about despite it exsisting even before london did. Its a touchy subject.. most Glaswegians cannae wait to tell ye they are from there...that in itself speaks volumes ❤

They got the horses to pull the barges by swapping their hooves with flippers. We also used to get them to pull our trains by swapping the flippers for wheels... We left pulling our planes to the unicorns.

For a short while my parents had a flat in Glasgow, and I often passed through. His comments about the Glaswegians are spot on - it is a very friendly city. The whole UK plays bowls. Whereas many areas play Flat Green Bowls, here in the West Midlands of England many play Crown Green Bowls, where the green is deliberately not made flat, and each green is different. Stirling is at the end of the Firth of Forth. There is no big distance between the Firths of Forth and Clyde. Anybody trying to get between southern and northern Scotland has to go through this narrow gap; but this is further narrowed at Sterling because a huge bog - Flanders Moss - was impassable for armies, further west was dense woods, mountains, and a huge lake - Loch Lomond. Therefore there was only a strip a few miles wide any army could go, with Sterling Castle blocking it! I have not visited the Speyside distilleries, but the Upper Spey is one of the most beautiful places I know. There are virgin forests - not densely packed together like plantations - of a very beautiful tree, the Scots Pine, and the pure light is extraordinary.

It’s Glasgow’s Coat of Arms…. All four of the symbols depicted in the coat of arms are attributed to legends regarding Saint Mungo, the patron saint of Glasgow. St Mungo, who founded the monastery which is now Glasgow Cathedral, died in the year 603 and his feast day was set to the January 13. Given how far in the past St Mungo lived his life, the stories and legends of his time can vary. Most people remember the symbols depicting his relationship with Glasgow by the following short poem.

Ben Nevis is so beautiful to climb, there are pockets of lakes in the mountain, really nice that there is a decomishioned weather hut on the summit, filled with snacks by others who reached the peak for anyone who may have travelled light when walking up..no view and few to no people at the peak, nor can you see well due to the fine rain like snow, so stone clusters help guide you instead, my condolences to anyone who reaches the peak as the sun is going down, as you'll go walking back in the dark, prompting helicopters to look for you. As almost happened. :p Will get there by sunrise next time on the longest days, as those mountain lakes need to be explored.. come on Summer!!! Forgot I was using my Father's tablet after he forgot to take it. :p

He actually said Falkirk correctly, I mean local would be Faw-kirk, but Fall-kirk is good. I once watched a whole documentary about the Wheel & not once did he get right, drove me nuts. Falkirk has been famed for many things down the years - battles, bits of Antonine Wall, cattle trysts, cannons & red telephone boxes 😁 Surprised he didn't nip along to Linlithgow Palace. You should check out the Billy Connolly murals.

Whisky in Scotland is mostly all made in the Highlands of Scotland like the part seen in the video is just one of many . Whisky is Scotlands largest export to the World with both Blended but also Scotlands unique Malt Whiskies which is only country in the World well known for its making of Malt Whiskies .

The original Kelvingrove Museum opened in 1876.[3] It was housed in a much enlarged 18th-century mansion called Kelvingrove House, to the north-east of the current site, Which then the new museum was built back to front in error and that the architect committed suicide when he realised what had happened - the tale is always strenuously denied of course, but it`s part of Glasgow folklore.

Highland Dancing is a mans dancing, The Sword Dance Gillie Callum, for a victory, a successful cattle raid, Seinn Briogais(OLD Trousers)first part is dancing in trousers, the faster second part is the freedom of dancing in the Kilt, there are others, the Hawaiian Hula for men and women also used for story telling!
