In my experience the officers never "tricked us" saying something was wrong when it wasn't. Thery were just VERY insistent on every detail being exactly as instructed, especially early in the training. It's about teaching attention to detail and paying attention to instructions.

Well, they know there's absolutely no way in hell you as a recruit will be able to do the stuff they tell you, in the time they give you, during "basic", at least the first few weeks of it, but that's intentional. The idea is to fluster you and make you not waste time, and get into the habit of listening to commands with intent, and then not question them but just go. But there's of course wide differences between units, times and officers.

There are rules for how long the beard can and can't be though. There's a minimum length and it has to be well groomed. 🙂

Yes indeed. We consume a lot of English speaking culture which leads to people adopting some expressions. That's how languages mold into what they are.

People often forget that in small countries like Sweden and Finland, every soldier is trained for a specialist role. It would be the equivalent of being in some elite corp in the U.S military. There are no "regular" soldiers in these armies. There is only a small number of soldiers needed for non combat oriented duties, the rest are all part of some specialty wing, trained as small groups to be able to do one thing and do it well, execute a given mission.

Gymnasium is sort of equivalent of the high school, it is secondary education and you can then go to a university. It is impossible to compare them to US school system, one reason of that is that in the Nordic schools you are ahead by a few years and deal with more complicated subjects earlier. At the end it equals out quite well, it is just a difference in timing.

You can keep any hairstyle as long as it is "tidy". The girl has long hair. On pronunciation "ö" is pronounced like the vowel in "her", "ä" as in "air", and "å" as in "Paul".

That's only ö before r though. The closed ö-sound (öga, höna, böna, etc) does not exist in English. (Hardly the closed ä-sound either, although it depends on the English speaker's dialect.)

As long as we kept it clean and tidy, any hairstyle was OK. Even if one guy who managed to keep a ponytail throughout training was pressured to cut it. He managed to keep it though. Only one guy in my platoon had a shaved head at start. I became the second during the first week. Next inspection, the only thing said was "Donkfail is beautiful!" Most kept their hair short as it saved time. The same beds and sheets as 30+ years ago. Well, maybe not the *same* sheets, but looks exactly the same.

What is not talked about in this video about Ranger Soldier, is that in Sweden there are several different trainings for Ranger soldiers and this training is neither the toughest nor the hardest training. I belong to the toughest Ranger soldiers who have been trained in Sweden. That regiment was called the Lapland Ranger Regiment and was located at the top of Sweden in a town called Kiruna. That regiment was disbanded but will soon be up and running again training Sweden's toughest soldiers after SOG (Special Operations Group). The entire training of the Lapland Rangers is up in the mountains and you are out in the field 86% of the time you do your conscription, for this training only the elite of the elite are taken. This is because it is not only physically tough but also mentally tough. The beret test that the LaplandRanger does is to walk 28 kilometers (174 miles) in 4 days and part of the beret test is to climb Sweden's highest peak Kebnekaise 2117 Swedish meters above sea level. Kebnekaise should be climbed in summer and winter. The Lapland Rangers are the only soldiers to beat the US NAVY SEALS 3 times, the Lapland Ranger conscripts had only served 10 months of the 18 month training when they had exercises against the Navy Seals and these are enlisted soldiers.

(From Sweden) My father was an airborne Ranger (Red Beret), and my uncle a marine one (Blue Beret). These guys are every bit as good as your equivalents. Aside: age seven, I ran across some of my fathers training manuals. I (a computer wimp) know how to demolish a train track, trick mine a supply dump, snipe to great effect. Build a snow biouvac. Etc.

Jägar soldat is like a more elit traning but it is not 1 type of training.. It is several different types of training. 1. Kust jägare= coast hunter(jägare means hunter) 2. Fjäll jägare= Mountain hunter wich is in the very north in Sweden. 3 Attack dykare= Attac diver. It could be more types but ar least this. But this is not the special forces. The special forces are called SOG= SPECIAL OPERATION GROUP. But to get in to their training the jägare training is most likely a prerecuest.

A big difference between Swedish and US Drill Saergents, are the behaviour. In the the US they are very hard on them from the start, the idea is to make the soldiers not to think on things, but just react immediately. They strip away the free thought,.....just do as you are told.....as fast as possible! In Sweden they are more like teachers....almost parents sometimes. They educate the soldiers. The goals are the same....to create good soldiers, the journey is very different though...

You will NEVER get a 100% perfect inspection. Our instructor upturned beds,turned over lockers and all other kinds of crap. Its to encourage checking your buddies work out because when one isnt correct, EVERYONE gets punished. The theory is to break everyone down to the same level and then rebuild a cohesive unit

We use to say Fan (faaan) as swear word as in one of the swedish devil name, the your F we copy to say coz its short and fast and we watched and influenced by your country from movies 😂 we also used eldery djävlar (devils) as swear the most swear word like yours to say shit we day skit.
