Yep lots of people around before 6am, some cafes open at 5am! It is better than running at lunchtime! 🥵 I used to work with a guy who surfed every morning before work, he said it increased his productivity that day! 🤔

When you come to Australia, ask Aussies which beaches are patrolled by lifeguards, and choose one of those. Don’t go into the ocean at just any beach, there are strong currents, sharks, jellyfish, etc, you need to have lifeguards patrolling the beach and watching the water through binoculars, because they know exactly what to look for and can come and get you out of danger before you drown. This is especially important if you can’t swim or come from a landlocked house back home. If you can’t swim, don’t go deeper than your knees! Oh and the most important thing! SWIM BETWEEN THE RED & YELLOW FLAGS! That’s the safe zone for that beach on that day.

Sunstroke and Heatstroke can be used interchangeably however Google differentiates them by that heatstroke is where the body can no longer cool itself, and your body temp reaches dangerous levels, and sunstroke is the same caused by getting too much direct sunlight. I guess the point is, you could get heatstroke without being in the sun etc. Either way, they are a serious thing. I have had heat exhaustion several times in my life as an Aussie, but never to the point I had to go to the hospital. But it is serious and needs to be treated as such, because it can quickly escalate to heatstroke/sunstroke.

If you don’t like coffee, it might be because you’ve only tried American coffee. From what I can tell from outside the US, most Americans don’t drink it for the flavour, they drink it for the caffeine, and that tells me all I need to know about how bad it must be in the US! When Starbucks first came to Australia, they did no market research whatsoever, they just assumed their coffee would go down well in Australia like it did in the US. They were wrong! We tried it, just once, and never again! Then we just went back to our local cafe with our local Barista who knew us and made our coffee the way we like it. Starbucks had to close most of their stores, go back to the planning board and start over. “If the Aussies don’t like it, we’ll just put a few in airports and major tourist hubs so Americans can have the coffee they know.” From a Sydney newspaper: “Is Starbucks growing in Australia? Average industry growth is about 4 per cent; in 2023, Starbucks' reported growth in Australia was at 35 per cent. For a company that accumulated $105 million in losses in its first seven years in Australia - resulting in the closure of 61 stores - this reversal of fortunes seems miraculous.”

Of course you'll see people out and active in Cronulla, it's right on the beach.

Remember she’s referring to Australian dollars, not USD. Our wages are better too, so we can absorb a slightly higher cost of living. So AUD$1760 is about USD$1143.

“Is Starbucks successful in Australia now? Starbucks has swung to a modest profit for the first time in its history of operating in Australia, ending a record of consistent unprofitability across two decades - all thanks to Generation Z's obsession with iced coffee.”
