The London Eye ferris wheel was erected to celebrate the Millennium, and was planned to be taken down at the ens of 2001, but it was so popular that it has been kept and maintained as a tourist attraction. In the UK, High School is called 'Secondary School' and typically goes to the 6th Form (12th grade) with 'college' being the equivalent of the final two years of 'high school' (years 12 & 13) _or_ vocational/trade training between 16-18 years old. After that, students can go to University where they study Bachelors degrees of 3-4 years, or go on to Masters, Doctorates etc or directly into trade/para-professional work. In Australia, there is primary school (prep to grade 6), high school (year 7 to year 12), or TAFE (available to anyone 16 or over, where you can get a trade or vocational certificate/diploma equivalent to an American 2-year college degree.... but called a Diploma) then university (3+year bachelor degrees) or work. So, to sum up a very confusing set of systems: An American High School Diploma is equivalent to British A levels or the Australian Certificate of Education. A 2-year American College Degree is roughly equivalent to a Further Education Higher Diploma in the UK, or an Australian TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma. An American College/University 3-4 year Degree is equivalent to a bachelors degree in the UK and Australia. So..... An American 'Diploma' is only a certificate in the UK and Aus. An American 2-year 'Degree' is only a Diploma in the UK and Aus, but a bachelor's Degree and above are roughly similar across the three countries...... except that in Australia and the UK, students are graded against the national curriculum standard, while Yanks are graded against a class bell-curve..... meaning even an idiot can get their High School Diploma or degree, so long as nearly half the people in the class are stupider than them.

The reason the UK doesn't accept US eggs is because eggs are laid with a natural barrier against pathogens on the shell. Washing eggs removes that natural barrier and makes them susceptible to contracting diseases and pathogens through cross-contamination. That way, any contaminated eggs can be traced to the source of contamination, without having to worry about all the possible other sources during transport, storage or at point of sale. It makes dealing with problem eggs much easier.

The bad weather thing is a stereotype and often perpetuated by brits. In reality the weather isn’t bad at all. Last summer we saw highs of almost 100 degrees

yep we did also see good summer in the years 1540 where Europe enter 11 month drought wide spread heat, forest fires everywhere or the 1808 uk got to 38 °C but lets take in to account uk had 50 million less people, if uk was as built up as is now in 1808 and temp stations next to miles tarmac at airports uk would seen above 40°C, uk still had a lot woodland / countryside back then so 38 °C is high as countryside normally colder than citys more easy seen at night on weather maps. so yep uk for sure get a good summer every now again and heat bigger heat events time to time, depends if the jet locks in the wrong place. last year the heat was pushed south for much longer had chance to really build when it shifted we seen it. funny reading oon the temp weather maps that day, the first record to be broken, think gatwick two weather stations, one north west of airport and one south of airport, nearly 3-4°C cooler before airport the wind direction was coming from the south east heading NW. Airport for sure put up temps with miles black top and concrete jungle. but these events we just seen and past events line very well with solar cycles, what strangely we have entered a grand cycle what comes around every 350-400 these events more common leading up to in or coming out of a grand cycle. interesting times ahead for the next 25 years maybe 30 years before we start to see things slowly start to settle back down
