Yes, there is no additional punishment for breaking out of prison. You just must not commit a crime during the breakout. It's just not that easy, because you usually have to break open at least one lock and commit property damage in the process.

@@reactwithhuggs In Germany, there is the option of "open prison" to ensure better resocialization. Prisoners are free to move around during the day, but must return to prison in the evening. I have often read that some prisoners have not returned. The days absent from prison must then be made up if the person is caught. After that, the open prison option is also taken back. I have also heard of a prisoner escaping out of a window during an examination by a civilian doctor. Again, no further crime has been committed and the prisoner only has to make up for the days he was at liberty in prison.

@@reactwithhuggs Depends on what you mean by "legally". They did escape. They weren't allowed to escape obviously. They did it regardless. If they managed to do it without any other damage done, then they won't get an additional sentence. They will however have to serve the rest of their normal sentence when they get caught. There was a case recently, where an inmate did escape - not from the prison itself, but from a courthouse when he was put on trial for a crime he commited in the prison. He did however escape without damaging or harming anyone, so that did not give an additional sentence. When he was caught, he was of course put back in because he is sentenced to prison for life for murdering someone. That doesn't magically go away, just because he escaped. ;)

In the german law system breaking out of prison is not illegal that's true. But by not fighting up against the law you will get benefits. You can get out of prison much earlier if you behave well and if it is proven that you have learned from your past criminal actions. By breaking out of prison you have ruined your chances of getting freedom much earlier if they catch you again and they will. It's like drug politics in sweden(partially) and portugal. You won't get punished by taking specific drugs, but you will get the benefits of not doing it.

The blocked video thing is mostly resolved. It had to do with GEMA (German collecting society representng musicians and music industry) being unable to find an agreement with youtube regarding fees. Even if a artists voluntarily uploaded stuff themselves on YT the videos got blocked, which actually harmed them more than it brought them any benefits or extra cash. Some years ago an agreement finally was made (probably due to growing pressure on GEMA), and now seldomly videos get blocked (so extremely far from 60%), and when they do, it usually has some legal background. Actually, I compared GEMA to a Mafia a few times.. A had friends who played in a metal band and they were asked to pay GEMA fees for the songs they uploaded to their own website - except they weren't even associated with GEMA meaning they had not the slightest of rights to collect any fees for them, not to start FROM them. Meanwhile there was another change and afaik you are now automatically represented by them.

"Berlin is nine times bigger than Paris" 🤣 thats not the whole truth! A lot of context is missing here! Berlin is not really big, but Berlin is large. By sq miles even larger than New York City. Berlin has in relation a low population density with about 3.7 million citizen and large areas of green, parks and water. The administrative unit "city of Paris" is indeed smaller by sq miles and population than Berlin because it only includes the inner part inside of boulevard peripherique (formerly the ancient city wall). The whole agglomeration (built-up area with no gaps in between) is much more than that. Every 5th French live in Greater Paris and it's the biggest city on the continent with about 11 Million people (London about 12). In relation the agglomeration Berlin has about 4 to 5 million people. And thats great! Paris is much to packed with people on much zu less space. But to say Berlin would be 9 times bigger as Paris without any explanation ist wrong and ridiculous 😆

Usually one of the reasons cited for the low birthrate is not the lack of support but the level of education. When adding a university degree after school and then trying to start a career, this adds up. And one also has to find a partner in those years. So many people with a degree do not have kids for the one or the other reason. And that adds up.

About the WW2-Bombs. Yes it's true. Nearly at every new construction area they found another one. But believe me you don't wanna go outside and digging for one. It is the nightmare of every excavator operator when it makes just "ding". Half of the city will be evacuated and a special force will be called to defuse that "friendly" greetings from the US. For us Germans it's business as usual. Sometimes they defuse it, sometimes they blow it up controlled in the area where they found it.

There is no penalty for escaping, but damaging things. Only the escape itself is not punished, if you get caught you just come back to the cell. Also, if you behave well, you can get out earlier or get probation, but if you keep trying to escape, I don't think that's good behavior. The people from Hamburg are also called Hamburger. Yes, almost every week a bomb is found and defused during construction work in my city. Yeah me and some of my family are also immune to hiv. No idea where it started for us, but we're just testing ourselves to see who got the genes.

To the thing with the blocked KZbin videos: All the blocked videos contain some sort of copyright protected material (most of them music). Instead of the video itself you may get either "Dieses Video ist in deinem Land nicht verfügbar" (this video is not available in your country) or, if it's about music "Dieses Video ist aufgrund geschützten Materials durch die GEMA gesperrt" (this video is unavailable for legal reasons through GEMA, with GEMA being an artists association). You can still watch these videos using a VPN, though. The world got a taste of this quite recently when during Blizzcon a live stream of a Metallica concert got silenced and the played music got replaced by some random stuff not matching the music of Metallica at all to prevent legal issues. KZbin basically does the same thing with not showing the videos in Germany.

Nowadays, deploying munitions with a low chance of detonation is considered a war crime, due to the risk it poses on civilians. But back then, it was just crappy manufacturing quality. Also, you will rarely ever find un-detonated munitions in London.... just sayin'.

these "facts" are a good start to learn about lots of real facts, but they themselves are mostly exaggerated, outdated, or otherwise to be taken with lots of care. examples: - numbers change over time, including population and number of children/schools/teachers - the escape from prison itself is not punishable, but as soon as he is caught, bonuses for "good behavior" will be revoked, and all crimes during the escape will be punished. - the area of berlin includes lots of water, forests, etc, while the area of paris is strictly only the center without suburbs. and with the size being a mukltiple of venice, and having lots of water bridges, street bridges, train bridges, etc, it should not be surprising that there are more bridges total (afaik, hambur has even more?) - "running out of fuel" is not directly illegal, but indirectly: unnecessarily stopping on the Autobahn is illegal, you are responsible for your fuel, and there are enough gas stations at the Autobahn or nearby that are open 24/7, and thus it is not unavoidable to run out of gas. - problem with youtube videos was strict copyright and a controversy about compensation payments for artists, which has mostly been resolved years ago. - hundreds of thousands TONS of bombs were dropped on germany during the war, and a large percentage didn't detonate. therefore hundreds of thousands explosives are still hidden and 5000+ are found each year, including heavy 500+ lbs bombs and small handgranades. this year alone, i got at least three evacuation warnings for bigger bombs in an area of my town (berlin) - fanta was invented by a german working for german Coca Cola company, but with a completely different recipe. a while after the war a version similar to the current fanta was reinvented by an italian. - there are not so many royal families overall, and thus it's not surprising that they are somehow related. - not only the salute, but any kind of glorification of any such symbols, songs, gestures, etc are considered to be some kind of special hate speech and thus illegal. - Hugo Boss was a clothing manufacturer, but no famous designer who created those uniforms. he only produced them, just like many other companies had to work for them. most people who lived at that time had to more or less either work with or for them, or emigrate (if possible at all) or are dead now. some did it voluntarily, most did not or didn't care as long as they could live a normal life themselves. - As sean already guessed, it was not specifically illegal to light a condom, but arson is illegal when you set fire on anything, and that was the reason they were deported.

The point of prisons is to protect the general public against people who broke the law. It´s not to punish people, who broke the law. The USA treats prisoners as lesser beings, as less than humans, as slaves. And I think, that´s wrong.

@@reactwithhuggs Because while escaping prison is perfectly legal, damaging state property or hurting people isn´t legal. And if you want to be a law abiding citizen, you don´t want to break the law. The Tsar and the Kaiser were no first cousins. The King of England was first cousin to both as his paternal aunt was the Kaiser's mother and his maternal aunt was the Tsar's mother. The Kaiser's grandfather and the Tsar's great grandmother were siblings. So the Tsar was rather a nephew of some degree to the Kaiser than a cousin.

Its no wonder that inventions skyrocket during wartime. Mostly because the sanctions and embargos. In, I think, WWI, Germany was blocked off the route to South America were the source for nitrats were. The reason was, that you not only needed Nitrats for fertilizer, but also for dynamite and other explosives. Because of this, a German thought to himself that the important part of nitrates was nitrogen and nitrogen is in the air around us. So he developed a technique to make the air fluid and to gain to the nitrogen. The name of this man was Linde. This technique is the basis of todays fridges and even ACs.

Having declining birthrates in a country is actually as sign of wealth, because of reasons including the freedom to choose for women, better products to prevent pregnancy and less of a need to have children that help financially now and when you're not able to because of old age etc. But it's not actually good in the eyes of the government either, because it's bringing a demografic change, which means (in for example germany) that the younger generation has to support more people in their taxes that are already retired because they are not as many people as before so they have to increase the taxes. Which means specifically that in a few years and even starting now that the boomers a very large part of the population that is retiring now are going to be supported by the MZ generation (while gen Z is just entering the market). The generation with the fewest people right now! And that calculates to 1 worker having to pay in taxes for 3 retired people. Which is indeed shitty.

People always talk about New York, but New York is the COUNTY and the same goes for Paris. There is the city of Paris and then there is the metropol region, like in L.A., where the city of Los Angeles has only about 4 million citzens, while the whole region has almost 19 ! Hamburgers: It is NOT finally proven, that they come from hamburg, but what is almost consent is, that the ship, that brought german immigrants to the us, came from there and that it was "invented" on that ship, becaue people were forbidden to use stoves. That's why they came up with the idea to put something like corned beef between to slices of bread. That's why one company in the US still claims to have sold the first Hamburgers as you know them today, while that thing on the ship is called "Hamburger Sandwich" - it's a technically.
