Most people don't know Götz at all in Germany. The interest raised in the last years since "Guts" the maincharacter from the Berserk manga has many similarities with him (despite the author had claimed that he didn't know about "Götz"). How about a Berserk reaction xD ??

well, there's also use for bottle openers - and they were often used in germany, "but": mostly in the household, but not outside. outside you don't normally have always a bottle opener (well, i do, but i don't have always my keys in my near - and then, people using that one wrong, 'cause they don't look at it and see that's disigned differently), so, there's literally "everything" used what could hemp open bottles... Knifes, forks, spoons, lighters, folding rulers, a beer crate, other beer bottles... and that's just a "tiny bit" what could be used.

Swiss here. I've had a gun in the house ( Stgw 57, later Stgw 90 ) during my time in the military ( Swiss Milicia 1986-2005) and even for 2 years before that as a Junschütze, a Swiss Army sponsored gun training for teens when I was 15 and 16 years old. I was quite happy to return the gun to the army when I turned 40. With two small children in the house I didn't like the risk and saw no benefit.

The best time to visit Görlitz is during the 1st weekend of July (Thu-Sat), when there is held the annually street theater frstival within the streets of the old town with theater groups big and small from all over the world. It's amazing. I moved away, but I always try to find a way to visit my hometown during that time 🥰

I'm German, and two of my cousins and a very good friend of mine own guns and are members of gun clubs (Schützenverein). My cousins have guns and are club members because their father is, so they grew into that, and the older one isn't even a bad shooter, he earned several prizes at regional shooting contests. But it's really not their main interest. My friend, however, is what you could call a gun enthusiast. Not a fanatic, but a guy who is really interested in the technology, the history, and also military technology. He has a whole room full of books and magazines about weapons, civilian and military, some dating back as far as the 1950s. You have a question about a specific gun? Ask him, he will know, but be prepared for a university lecture. I myself learned how to shoot in the military and afterwards made my civilian gun license. It's a long story, but in the end I decided to not join a club or become a gun owner, and I don't even know whether my old license would still be valid today.

I have probably seen more privately own guns than most Germans. Starting with two fathers of friends with hunting licenses back in elementary school, later having friends in sport shooting clubs, a few more hunters, an acquaintance with a weapons shop and various bodyguards and security personnell. After moving to Berlin, i actually got to see a lot less guns! I even knew a guy with a concealed carry license for self defense purposes. He was a friend of my father and died a while ago under mysterious circumstances. Got his own wikipedia page for his troubles...

One and a half years is a pretty good estimate. As a sport shooter, you have to be a member of a sport shooting club and association for at least a year, in which you have to train regularly, until you get the paperwork from them, which states that you are a sincere sport shooter. Then you take that to your local weapons authority, and they run the background checks. This can take weeks or months. After that, you get your licence, the so called "Waffenbesitzkarte" (gun-owning-card) that allows you to buy what you applied for in the first place, a 9mm pistol for example. Let's say you also want a revolver a year later. No problem. If you trained regularly in the last year, you can get your paperwork from the shooting association again, which is often a very quick procedure. Then you take that to the weapons authority again, and wait again around 2 months. With the new permission in your gun-owning-card you can buy the revolver, but only the revolver. Great, isn't it? Just to keep insane people and criminals away from guns. You just have to stay mentally stable in this process. Some rifles and shotguns are a bit easier to buy, but only a bit.

A bit more hoops, but still not very difficult. But why should I?

At the beginning of the 90s it was not so hard regulated and you could still buy a gas gun at the age of 14 without proof.. However, I already had a gas gun at the age of 12, I was at the time in a children’s home for difficult-to-educate young people and almost everyone had a gun there.. I decided because they had fun chasing me with a gas gun and shooting at me to get one myself and later I realized that I despise weapons through this experience and prefer to fight with my fists than hiding behind weapons never bought a weapon again.. who wears weapons to feel stronger is probably a cowardly pig that doesn’t have the balls to deal appropriately with fists.

Regarding 2: In Germany there are also houses that only have one floor. Regarding 3: In Germany there are also houses with attached garages. Regarding 4: The doors in Germany have a small lever in the lock that you press down, then the lock is unlocked and you can open the door at any time without a key. Regarding 5: There are different heating systems in Germany. The most common is the radiator in every room. Then there is underfloor heating, which is built into the floor. And then there are heat pumps, similar to your central heating system, which can be used as air conditioning in summer and as heating in winter. Regarding 6: In Germany there is every kind of refrigerator. Integrated refrigerators, but also free-standing refrigerators. Completely according to your taste. There are also refrigerators with a freezer compartment, refrigerators with a combined freezer, i.e. with two doors, Refrigerators with ice cube dispensers or you have an additional freezer. Yes, we Germans don't live behind the moon either. Regarding 7: A closet is not part of a house, but a piece of furniture. Every person has their own taste. Nobody wants to take over old furniture from the previous owner. Especially if he doesn't handle it carefully. Regarding 8a: There are different systems for roller shutters. Like in the video that is pulled open and closed by hand or electrically. Regarding 8b: In Germany you can install or glue fly screens yourself without any problems. Because you have different window sizes. If a fly screen were to break in America, you would have to install a new window; in Germany you only need a new fly screen. Regarding 9: It always depends on whether it is an attic apartment. Not all houses have the attic converted into an apartment.

So I don't even think about buying a gun, because it's normal and clear to me, I can't buy a gun, period. About 10% of households in Germany have guns, not for protection but for sports shooting and hunting, the latter being quite common in rural Germany. As far as safety is concerned, in rural Germany it can take more than 30 minutes for police to arrive after calling the emergency line, speaking from personal experience. The reason for the call being a person seeking shelter as they were chased by multiple assailants intending to cause death or great bodily harm I might add, so definitely an absolute emergency.

If you are a sports shooter in a Shooting Association (btw i think the oldest german one is about 1200 years old located in Aachen) you need to be an active Member for 12 months to buy and own live Guns and Ammo, stored and transported according to law of course. But even before that - its possible to shoot air rifles (BB- Guns means Airsoft Guns over here) or even assisted shooting with an instructor with like a small caliber like a .22, a 9mm pistol or even a 30-30 winchester or bigger. But for younger members the guns are likely stored in the facility of the shooting club since gun safes are pretty expensive and hard to get into private homes. For Collectors there are many options but almost everytime the gun has to be disabled, so it is non functional and just for Display. For the Hunting-Part the community needs to help out 😄❤

Mostly correct. For sport shooting it is being a member for 12 month, training 18 times in those 12 month, the safety course (one weekend), a safe with the correct rating (class 0 or I) and the background check. The psych evaluation is only when you are under 25. For hunting you need a hunting license, the course for that is 3 weeks, 7 days a week, 10 hours a day of school. Price just for the hunting license about 3000€. Collecting is the most difficult to obtain, you need a topic to collect, like "WWII pistols carried by the german army from 1935-1945" and not just "Pistols", proof that you can safely store the collection, that you have the financial means to obtain the collection. A Collectors license does not include ammo, you need to get a special license to allow shooting your collection. A Collectors license is possible for ammo, even for illegal ammo like armor piercing or incendiary.

Well buying a gun Germany does not take long at all. Getting the "Waffenbesitzkarte" does. That allows you to buy and own guns. After that it is just going to the shop and paying and afaik you also have to register the gun to your license etc. Note, you are not allowed to carry. You have to transport it unloaded and locked in a secure way for transport. When you reached the place you want to do what is your legitimate interest for owning the gun in the first place -> shooting range, hunting grounds etc., than you can start getting it ready. If you want to carry, it's an additional license "Waffenschein" and you pretty much only get that in rare cases, when you do certain jobs. Maybe like bodyguard or driving a money transporter.

The main difference between Germany and the USA regarding guns is that in Germany under no circumstances will you be allowed to carry a gun in public open or concealed. Weeell, there are three groups of people who may (MAY!) get a concealed carry permit in Germany. And there is ONE group that has regular open carry permits, and ONE group for very special reasons may have open carry during their job hours. The ONE group with regular open carry are cops. They are given a very special permit to openly carry guns. The other group with open carry are guards for very high value transports such as bank or jewelry store transports. But even those are limited to pure defense only, and can NEVER use it in public if it endangers anyone else. The three groups that MAY, under very, very special circumstances get concealed carry are body guards, high risk attorneys or other public figures going after organized crime or under regular threat of assassination, and finally owners of other extremely high value items (again jewelers come to mind). But ANY of those three groups have to pass insanely rigorous tests, and have to validate their psychological test regularly, as well as validate their special carry license each and every year. These aren't just rubber stamped test; these are harsh tests taking a lot of preparation. Again, any of these people are ONLY allowed to draw their guns when there is imminent mortal threat to their person, and even then they have to give warning shots into the air previously before even attempting an aimed shot at an assailant. So we are talking incredibly tough restrictions on the usage of the guns themselves. ANY kind of crime, no matter what, instantly invalidates ALL gun licenses you hold. Permanently. Period. No f's given, you loose all your guns immediately.
@user-vz5lu7bu3y
@user-vz5lu7bu3y 6 сағат бұрын
Guns for transport have to be unloaded, but definitely not field stripped. They need to be in a closed container, e.g. a range bag, that makes it impossible to get to the gun and point it at something/someone in under three seconds or with less than three touches of the hand. In practice, most people satisfy this requirement with a small combination padlock on the container, as that is generally accepted to fully satisfy the requirement. Ammunition may be transported in the same container, even in loaded magazines. Empty magazines may be inserted in the guns. Again, in practice, most people will avoid transporting loaded magazines and instead leave the ammunition in the original packaging. Some people also insert a chamber flag to indicate the gun being unloaded, just so the police can immediately see it is unloaded without needing to handle it. It is actually quite rare for police to even check a range bag, most of the time they just assume sports shooters and hunters are well aware of regulations and everything is well above board anyway.
