I saw Steve Coogan live in 1998 Oxford. Simon Pegg was his support that night along with Julia Davis. Simon was only really known for a cough syrup advert at the time so it was a surprise to see that guy from that advert on stage being funny. It was an incredible night. Definitely the funniest live performance from a comedian I’ve seen.

Seven different kids have played the Milky Bar Kid in the advert at various times, the most famous being the original (Terry Brookes) the little blonde kid with glasses, 1961-1966. He’s now in his sixties, with 4 children plus grandchildren, living in Spain with his second wife, where he works as a gardener/handyman at a country club in Murcia.

Oh my! I've been recommending this clip for a bit. So excited to see, great thumbnail pic. 😅 Will watch as soon as I'm home. 😀 Another very excellent one-off Partridge clip that isn't in any of his shows is; Alan Partridge vs Tony Malony (played by the fab Peter Kay). It's here on KZbin, about 6 minutes long.
@mr.a83154 ай бұрын
Excellent, darkly hilarious. 'Live n Lewd' (1994) is probably Steve Coogan's best live show. He appears as several characters, some you haven't seen yet. Two of them are job-dodging lay-about Paul Calf and his tarty sister Pauline Calf. And the show ends with an Alan Partridge section. Another live stand-up show of Coogan's that's very good is called 'The Man Who Thinks He's It' (1998). I've seen Coogan live on his 1998 UK tour (The man who thinks he's it tour), Simon Pegg was part of the stage team. It was a brilliantly funny gig. I still have the souvenir I bought from the merch stall there. A Tony Ferrino* condom. *Ferrino is another Steve Coogan character. A womanizing, self-loving crooner from Portugal. Kind of a cross between Englebert Humperdink and Tony Montana. Shout out again for a 7 min Partridge clip that isn't in any of his shows. It's here on You Tube. 'Alan Partridge vs. Tony Malony (played by Peter Kay'. It's comedy gold, set at a boxing event.

Great to see your reactions to this fabulously dark comedy creation- Alan Partridge's inept and insentive interviewing style so well done. Someone has made a compilation of UK daytime TV hosts who must be who Partridge was partially based on. Simon Pegg was only recognisable by some of the way he smiled initially, but his role was so differnt in this to what he normally plays, I didn't recognise him at first.
