@@Mr_PigeonMan My bet is that many young people in England want to go away because Brexit robs them a lot of opportunities. If you once thought England invented slavery then you are a bit of a clown aren't you? Slaves existed long before England was a nation. Slaves hardly have anything to do with young Englishmen to leave England. But the lack of opportunities can make them look for another place to create a good life. So I still think Brexit is the big reason they say they don't like England. For many young people in England, it must look like the state stole their future. Slaves have nothing to do with it.

Everyone outside it has only ever visited the local market town? Very odd. I can assure you by my own experience living all over the UK and living on 4 continents as well as wider 'holidaying' that people from all over the UK travel overseas to live, for work and leisure and it certainly is absolutely not the case that 'Londoners' are particularly sophisticated compared to anywhere else!

There's a massive difference in hating a country, hating the people of a country, and hating the prevailing politics of a country. Perhaps someone who dislikes the cold might hate a very cold place, for example. Hating a people is stupid stereotyping. Hating the current politics of a current government isn't really hating the country itself. So it's a silly question really.

The ATC quite properly said, "You have to use English." English is the International language and used across the globe for all air traffic communications. The German Captain said, "Why must I, a German Captain in a German aircraft at a German airport, speak in English?" I've lived in London and greater London all my life and the people outside London haven't had the opportunity to coexist with London's diverse cultural community, Australians, Nigerians, Asians, Indians, Turks, Greeks, Italians, Eastern Europeans, virtually all hardworking, friendly and beautiful people. It actually makes very little difference where their ancestors originated from. As a result a lot of the people in the sticks are a little bit xenophobic (mainly because they don't understand something they haven't had any experience of and are therefore afraid of), I remember my parents generation were a bit the same (apart from my Nan who was from Bermondsey and said it doesn't matter if someone is blue with pink spots as long as they're good people) but the younger generation mostly don't even think about it because they've grown up in a multicultural society, it's just normal to them.

As they landed, they were met by a makeshift customs desk and asked to produce their travel documents by French immigration officials. Crowds also went to watch the jump and the troops were applauded after landing. Hello Joel. I came to US and loved it there. The people I met were friendly and welcoming. I would say that about most places, though it can be frustrating in big cities like London and Paris, because everyone is in such a rush and so busy that they seem unfriendly. Funny how some Scots seem to think as though England conquered Scotland, when it was a Stewart king of Scotland that became king of England too. Also it was a Pope that "gave" Ireland to a king of England. As for Wales, the Bretons who invaded England with the Normans saw it as them taking their ancestors' homeland of England and Wales back, one Breton called Alan also being the ancestor of the Stewarts.

"Don't mention the war." Hilarious, Joel. Very nice video. Travelling through the US is fun. I've never met anyone there who wasn't kind and hospitable. Moreover, there are just so many places to see and things to do. US politics and political system are a completely different matter. Cheers, John in Canada (oh, to keep with the theme of the video, "I hate Canada" but I don't. Silly politics yes, scary politics no). BTW, I love England and am heading over in a couple of weeks.

Congrats on the 100k Joel! Just thought I'd add a story about one time when i went to Atlanta and was sat chatting to a group of older people in a bar. They told me travelling was too dangerous so they refuse to leave the USA which i thought was quite funny. They told me Europe was far too dangerous 😂

You can't really dislike somewhere you have never been. But there are some countries i would choose not to go to because of safety. I'm British live in a small northern town where most people know each other. It's safe to walk around alone at night. My uncle used to say the same about Germany. He went mad when he heard i was learning German at school. Even though he went there himself for work.

The man who said he hasn’t travelled far enough to judge which country he doesn’t like is right. My brother in law came to England in the 1950’s and made it his home.. I’m a mixture of Scots and Irish and the countries are beautiful, so I ask why were the Scot and Irish man in England when their homes in Ireland and Scotland are only a couple of hours away?

The cop out answer is Germany. Although we should never forget what happened in WW2 you cannot blame 3 generations on for what happened decades before. Also it’s not as cut and dried as it seems that every German serving in WW2 was evil. My grandfather was English and was severely injured in Holland 1944, he lost his left leg, some of his hand , half of his remaining foot and was strafed with bullets down one side. As he was lying in the snow dying a German medic tried to pull him inside a building to get him out of the cross fire , the medic was shot and killed by the British, after some time another German medic managed to pull him inside. He was taken to a German Field hospital and patched up , then he was taken to a German P.O.W hospital where the German doctors operated on him. He was in the German P.O.W hospital for the remainder of the war and was repatriated in 1946. To his dying day in 1997 my Grandfather would say the Germans saved his life. As far as the soldiers were concerned , he said the majority were just like him , following orders and serving their country, he said the hatred should be for the regime not the country or the man. A wise man my grandfather

Newport/Cardiff, UK here. So far, I've not had a 'bad' experience in any other nation I've visited. Israel 12 times, Jordan x2, Egypt x1 (in the south, not a trouist resport), India Tour x1, Germany 15+ times, USA 3 times (west coast x2 & Chicago x1), France, Italy, NL, Belgium - they're all great. Egypt was 'odd' but good once we got used to it! Try to speak the language is the only thing I will add. I even used my 'schoolboy' Russian to break the ice in Eilat, Israel 🙂

When people travel to different countries, it’s usually to go somewhere they want to go, so it would be odd for too many to say they hate another country. It’s not the British way to be openly hostile or overly opinionated without provocation either.

You didn’t know that we are probably the most patriotic country in the world we just don’t show it. We certainly aren’t so fragile in our patriotism that we all have flags everywhere, we know where we are and the country we love, even though we take the Micky out of it and knock it down, we will defend it when necessary with all we have. England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Have a look at the “Last Night Of The Proms” or the “Festival of Remembrance” if you don’t believe it. We aren’t insecure.

I think the people saying the UK, mostly it'll be weather based. Go some other places they wouldn't last a day. I think the only thing that is missing here is the weather. You could say expensive, our politics etc... but that's everywhere. If you want a place with decent weather, great atmosphere, everything is fair etc... well, good luck haha

This is an excellent example of how most English people prefer to self-depreciate, rather than to openly criticise any others. I suspect it's also not England as such that is disliked - rather the manner in which it has been run in recent years, by some of the most corrupt and dishonest politicians we have ever known; who have served to widen the cultural and economic north-south divide to the extent that it is now effectively two separate countries!

Do not like France as in Paris they are really rude. Got asked to leave a cafe once as my husband and I had a drink and we were then joined by 2 other people from our tour and when they asked what they would like to drink one of them wanted a drink and the other did not so we were asked to leave in a very rude manner. Also been to Nice and unfortunately it was covered in dog mess on every street and there were loads of pickpockets.
