The thing with Alcoholism is these minimum prices wont stop alcoholics from getting alcohol, it just means they'll go without necessities in order to favor alcohol or perhaps even steal or pawn to feed their habit. If they're putting this money into alcohol recovery programs then fair play but I just don't see it. What I think a lot of politicians don't realise is fundamentally addiction is rooted in pain/trauma...Just as tobacco got more expensive, many switched on to vaping. Make alcohol too expensive and people could quite easily switch to man-made dangerous drugs for that "buzz" i.e street valium And as for people saving money, no alcoholic I know SAVES MONEY! Because they spend it all or majority on alcohol. I don't even think this is aimed at alcoholics as Alcoholism is just as much a mental issue as it is a physical issue. It's far more deep rooted than just raising the price of alcohol.

I love the NHS...but...Yes BUT!!!...so many inefficiencies...a real example of this was in 2021/22....where due to Covid a massive backlog of Cataracts operations were cancelled so NHS reached out to private Health care...the backlog in Cambridgeshire was 18 to 2 year backlog one private hospital in Cambridgeshire cleared the backlog in less than 6 months...how...Efficiency...It was the same surgeons that NHS use but the support Nurses was all NHS...One Operating theatre was used...Like I say I love the NHS...but far too much red-tape missed appointments and Administration costs the UK tax payers far to much...(if you miss an appointment and its the patient's fault then a fine should applied...unless a reasonable excuse is can be shown)
