When BABYMETAL began, they couldn't afford a full time backing band. At this concert, the live musicians known as the Kami Band came on stage for a five song encore.

Well, I can tell you 1 thing: the dance movies are inspired by the lyrics, so what you often see: when the lyrics repeat, so do the dance moves as well. So if you can remember the lyrics, it becomes a lot of easier to remember how to dance it or when to do a dance move. You can also see Moametal mouth the words Su-metal sings sometimes, probably exactly why she does it.

Most Official MV's (like this one) used studio audio over LIVE footage. Once again I suggest HQ pro shot videos over Official MV's (you have a list of them in my comment from your first resting to Babymetal. Babymetal is the best LIVE band on the planet so you may as well hear the real LIVE.

Like most Metal Hedz these kids Totally Confused & 🤯 my mind! After getting blindsided by them on youtube (thank you!)! It took alot of time to recover, from what was basically a full on bodyslam on my noggin! I couldn't understand it at all! Things started to make a bit more sense once when i seperated the genres in my mind! What also helped was listening to isolated, edited Babymetal Metal Music Tracks (posted by someone on Yourube) = minus the Jpop vocals & Electronica music//effects. I've been a Major Fan ever since! Oh & their concert Merch & T-shrts are SIK! Cheers!

Gimme Choko is Babymetal's most famous/infamous song, but it's not the best example of what they are capable of. However, it is the song that went viral and made them famous around the world, so it's a very important part of the Babymetal story. This music video is actually the studio audio over video taken at the Legend 1997 concert from 2013, which was the world premiere live performance of this song. Babymetal call their blend of metal and J-pop "kawaii metal" (cute metal), which is a blend of metal instrumentals with J-pop vocals, dance, and aesthetics. It's worth noting that Babymetal is actually just the three girls up front, not the musicians that play with them. Babymetal don't call themselves a "band", instead they refer to themselves as a "metal dance unit". The band that plays with them for live performances is called the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band), but they are not part of Babymetal. The guys in the skeleton suits aren't an actual band, they are actors pretending to play along with a backing track, who were called Babybones. They were used in place of a live band in the early days when Babymetal couldn't always afford to have a live band play with them. The performance at Legend 1997 was one of the last times that Babybones were used before they were retired and a live Kami Band has been used for virtually all performances since then.

Nice reaction but be aware that this isn't live. It's the official MV and is a studio recording dubbed over the image of a live performance. It went viral back in 2013 so got lots of hits and is, therefore, the first one reactors often turn to. It isn't bad but there are much better. Babymetal is best served live.

The live audio from this concert is just as good, or better than the studio track they used. But record labels like to use studio tracks for music videos.

Great reaction. This is one of their fun songs - they just want some chocolate🍫 but they're a bit worried about their weight ... but it would be so nice and they would be so happy, so they will just eat a little piece of chocolate. This is the official video so the audio is from the studio even though the performance was live. The guys in skeleton suits (called Babybones) was not a real band. Early on BABYMETAL couldn't afford a live band so Babybones would wave guitars round while the instrumentals were pre-recorded. This video was filmed at the last big show (Legend 1997 from December 2013) before the real live band (the Kami Band) became the full time support for all live shows. The Kami Band did come on for the 5 encore songs at this show ... after this song. You were pretty much right. BABYMETAL are unique and yes they did pioneer their very own brand new sub-genre ... but they called it Kawaii-Metal (kawaii means cute/adorable). It started with the mix of Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics (including the choreo), but they have gone on to make it so much more blending so many more musical styles and genres with the metal ... and they have songs in virtually every metal genre too. Yes they are unique and there is nobody like them and yes the lighting, the choreo, the imagery, the music, the vocals all play very important parts in making them so unique and special. Try 'Megitsune' live at the PIA Arena from April last year to hear them and the Kami Band live in one of their top favourite songs.

You are right. Early Babymetal did have a spooky-ish story to tell. That's why there were a lot of spooky vibes in their early concerts. You can collect some details of Babymetal lore in different live performances or music videos if you were interested to dig in more.🎉

Great reaction! This song definitely the dichotomy of Babymetal, but a fun and goofy song about chocolate! Also, video is live, but they used studio track over it. Also, this was the last concert (Dec 2013) where the “fake band” in skeleton costumes appears. Believe it or not, Babymetal just got big in Japan at that time, and, didn’t have money for a live band for an entire show up to that point. Their band, the Kami Band, only joined them for encores. The following year, 2014, they started backing ALL Babymetal live shows fully. Later (2019), they also added Kami Band West to help with increased touring, who has since became the primary band starting 2023. Yes, you are right... they combine J-Pop with metal, they call it Kawai metal... Babymetal's background is Japanese idols from Sakura Gakuin. You can also react to songs from the Sakura Gakuin group. They also have good songs, of course they are more pop.

I hate to disappoint you but you still haven't seen the actual musicians (known as the Kami Band). However, I suggest you react to the BABYMETAL song "Catch Me if You Can", the Budokan Black Night version ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIG8mqCBot2KZsksi=_jN8x_8o0AizCYMO ) - you'll get a strong dose of the Kami Band then!!! One can't expect you to remember every comment made so, in response to your "new genre" comment, let me re-iterate a comment I made on your "Pa Pa Ya!!" reaction from a month ago (see the second paragraph): BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around for a bit over thirteen years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art.
