3:35 So if the ball carrier crosses over the try line but hasn't yet grounded the ball, the opposing team can still stop him for doing so, either be stripping the ball from him, holding him or the ball up from touching the ground and a they can also tackle him over the touch line or drive backwards
@DonalTreacy13 жыл бұрын
A few individual players worth considering - Brian O'Driscoll, Jonah Lomu, Dan Carter, Cheslin Kolbe. Also you might be interested in Christian Wade. He was an international rugby player that switched to NFL last season (running back with Buffalo Bills). Got a 65-yard touchdown run on his first carry against the Indianapolis Colts.

Looking out for the name "Barrett" could mislead you. There are three brothers, all of whom have been selected to play for the All Blacks, sometimes at the same time.
@matthewedgeworth45093 жыл бұрын
Basically the rugby equivalent of a mobile QB. The position he mainly plays is #10 (out-half, fly-half, first 5/8 depending on where you are from) which is basically the conductor, the guy who runs the team and pulls the strings. It's a playmaking position and needs strong passing and kicking skills, Beauden is solid in those areas too but the threat of his running and speed opens up the rest of his game.
@rocketrabble67373 жыл бұрын
At 3:34 the point of "jumping in on Barrett" was to try to stop him grounding the ball. A try is only scored if the ball is grounded 'under control with downward pressure'. If a defender or defenders can get an arm, leg, etc. between the ball and the ground then it's 'no try'.
@rocketrabble67373 жыл бұрын
Beauden Barrett has generally been the No. 10 which is Fly half (sometimes stand off or 'first five-eighth' by New Zealanders). That position is the main 'play maker'. If a ball comes from forwards set piece , for instance, the scrum half will normally pass to the fly half. He has the options to kick (for territory, tactical advantage or touch), run with the ball, or pass to whoever is best placed. In most sides the fly half also takes most of the kicks; conversions, penalties and drop kicks. In recent years he has been playing full back (no.15) for the ABs. In the modern era Dan Carter is generally considered the ABs greatest no.10.

The individual player that many would recommend is the great Jonah Lomu who remodelled the concept of wing play.
@claytonleilua95013 жыл бұрын
2:24 So in that clip, Beauden was chasing down the springboks player that got the intercept and he managed to just trip the guy up and the players foot ended touching the touch line (out of bounds) which the ball was then given back to the All Black's
@bloody9273 жыл бұрын
He thought Barrett was the other guy 🤦♂️
@rocketrabble67373 жыл бұрын
At 5:12 he was making a tactical kick to touch to set up a lineout. The skill is that if you are outside of your own own 22-metre 'defence area' you have to bounce the ball from a kick before it goes over the side line. If you don't then the lineout throw is taken by the opposition from level with where you kicked it; not where it crossed the line. It is a fine piece judgement as if you go for a safe bounce a long way short of the side touch line then a defender will probably intercept the ball.

Barret is stunningly good, one of the best at 10 probably, but THE best…no. I think Dan Carter found smaller gaps and did better playing for the same team, the All Blacks, but others will differ. Personally I think its impossible to define a best player - what makes a world class prop is totally different to a world class back and players have to be judged in their teams context too. So defining GOAT in rugby is in my opinion a waste of time….Parisse is a case in point. I think once a player becomes a Great of the game, thats as far as you can go.

Beauden plays for the New Zealand national 15's side. He hold the record for their Bronco fitness drills. He is a brilliant rugby player with great vision, which is why he plays pivot or first five-eighth (#10), being the playmaking position in 15‐a-side rugby. Other popular players easily in the mix includes his team mate Ardie Savea, a flanker (#7), powerful and relentless, and one Anton Du Pont, scrum half (#9) for the French national 15's team, great vision and prowess. The South African, French and Irish sides have recently upset the New Zealand side which has been in the world's top ranking spot for most of the sports history so far. Beauden Barrett's predecessor was by far one of the most skilful players to ever play the game, his name is Daniel Carter, mercurial is the word.

The ball has to touch the ground with force (a body part securely grounding the ball) to be awarded a try. If an opposing team member can "hold up" the ball from the grounding it will not be awarded a try.

I love these rugby reactions vids keep up the work
@andi40223 жыл бұрын
To score a try you have to put the ball on the floor with downward pressure. So if the tackler is able to "wrap" around the other player, so the ball does not touch the ground, it's no try. That's you will be chased till you hear the whistle.
@PatrickBrown9243 жыл бұрын
The scary thing is, Beauden's not even New Zealand's first choice fly-half anymore - that's Richie Mo'Unga. You should have a look at him. The rising star in the position is Marcus Smith, a young English guy who's definitely the next big thing. Danny Cipriani and Finn Russell are worth a watch too. Some other people have made good suggestions of players to react to. You'll definitely love Cheslin Kolbe. For some great scrum-halves, try Faf de Klerk, Antoine Dupont, or my hometown hero, Ulster's John Cooney.
@lastpenny8493 жыл бұрын
Lets see, I hope Smith doesn't get ruined like all the other promising fly halves of the past.. Dani Cipriani springs to mind..

If you want to react to another player idk if you've done him or not but there's a Tongan player that played for the All blacks, the team the Beauden plays for. He's probably the GOAT of rugby. He played I think from the 90's to early 2000's, he unfortunately passed away a few years back. But when he was in his prime he was UNSTOPPABLE. Trust me you won't be disappointed

Beauden Barret was probably the world's best player between 2016 to 2018 (despite only winning the 'IRB player of the year' in 2016 and 2017) however, ever since 2019 his game has been in a steady decline. Tbh if I were to pick the world's "best player" today it would be between Cheslin Kolbe of South Africa, Antoine Dupont of France or Micheal Hooper of Australia.
@lastpenny8493 жыл бұрын
Hooper must hate playing for Australia, he's the only good player in that team. I think Aaron Smith could be on that list too.. best at his position..easily.

At 2:00 you say he did the same thing for the opposing team, which isn't what's happening. The intercept was by the quick South African player Willie Le Roux, and Barrett is the one who chased him down and made the tackle.

Enjoying your rugby reactions. I think you might enjoy sampling a bit of rugby union from an earlier age, when it was still an amateur sport, and some of the greatest characters the game has ever known were in their pomp. The 1973 match between the All Blacks (New Zealand) and the Barbarians (a scratch team featuring players from different countries) is regarded by many rugby aficionados as one of the greatest ever played. It featured legends of the game like Welshmen Gareth Edwards, John ("JPR") Williams, and Phil Bennett, Irish wizard Mike Gibson, dashing Englishman David Duckham, and Kiwi fliers like Bryan Williams and Grant Batty. I've never seen anyone react to these highlights, how about it?? kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH7HaIOHltuUrNk

He's currently playing in Japan, so he's not available for All Blacks selection, he will probably come back to NZ before the next World Cup so he can be selected. (No Overseas players Rule). Also please check out Jonah Lomu, the GOAT ( and I don't say that lightly). If you look at his career and how he did it and under what circumstances, you will appreciate it. Dan Carter, Ma'a Nonu, Richie McCaw all great All Black players from the past decade, all worth checking out. Their team was insane. EdIt; He's already back from Japan..
