The joy is that you can't stop anyone parking on the driveway even if you view it as yours, at most you can ask them not to but anything else and you have to get legal action Yes most in UK believe some stranger parking on their own driveway (not belong to stranger) is bad that police will do something about it: "If a vehicle is parked on your driveway without your permission, they are trespassing. As trespass is a civil and not criminal offence, the police will not always get involved. At most, they may send an officer to try and determine the owner of the vehicle and ask them to remove it." To add if they don't then you can only go for legal action to sort it
@crackpot148
@crackpot148 7 ай бұрын
@@mlee6050 Rubbish! If the driveway is on your land you can prevent others from parking on it. However, someone can park their car in front of it but they must move their car to provide vehicular access to or egress from the driveway if asked to do so by the owner of the driveway. The police can and do intervene where unreasonable refusal by someone to move their car to provide a driveway's owner vehicular egress or access to their property is liable to cause a breach of the peace.

The Karen at the 5:00 minute mark is absolutely in the right and she's not being a Karen. That builder on the scaffolding is chatting shit and probably knows it, or else he's a dopey twat who's been told wrong information by his boss. The law is, for building work and DIY using power tools, the hours are; Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Saturday, 8am to 1pm. And not at all on Sundays or bank holidays. This includes, plant machinery, compressors, pile drivers, jack hammers, power tools or any heavy hammering. The only exceptions are repairing burst water mains or gas leaks. Building contractors know the rules but will often try to take the piss. Often, if their workmen are foreign and don't know the regulations, so they'll get them to work through. The fine for a contractor is up to £20,000. If it's a private individual doing DIY, it's up to £10,000. The law guarantees at least one day a week of peace and quiet. If you're a working person and you live in a residential area, that quiet time is valuable. If they've been making all sorts of noise during the mandated hours during the rest of the week and Sunday is your one day of peace it would drive you nuts. She's not a Karen, the builders and the homeowner of the house being worked on are out of order and breaking the law. The 'Karen' can take them to court and should, otherwise the builder, thinking he can get away with it, will continue to take the piss. He should face the fine and a private lawsuit by the lady for anxiety and distress caused. The contractors know the rules as they wouldn't have got a contractors license if they didn't prove knowledge of the law. If they're cowboy builders they need to be shut down for being cunts about things.

The problem is, that very selfish people, think that they can break the law and do whatever they want when they have builders working on their house. They cannot give permission to a builder to continue /start working at times which are NOT allowed by LAW! There are quite large fines which can be imposed on both the builder and the homeowner, in those circumstances.

Although I wouldn't react the same way as the Karen complaining about the Sunday work, I do kinda understand, and technically is breakig the law as machinery should not be used in a residential area on a Sunday, in fact legally speaking machinery and building work should only take place on residential areas between: Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm Saturdays 8am - 1pm And noisy work on Sundays and Bank Holidays should be avoided unless absolutely necessary - that said police or council can stop it at anytime if it's in breach of the peace... As you say, much of this was filmed during covid. There's no indication of when during covid either, which greatly affected how scared people were of this possible plague. Three weeks in & I broke my arm in two places. The hospital had two entrances, for with or without symptoms. I had no symptoms, so I started to go that way, but security pushed me to go the other way. To keep staff safe everyone who arrived went into this big plastic box waiting room. I was terrified that I'd been exposed to certain death, for both me & my husband when I went home, as he had lung problems anyway. At the supermarket, I went through the self service, so I could limit who touched my groceries. For about a year, there were less than ten times I wasn't 'randomly selected' to have all of my shopping examined by staff, as if I were a criminal. There were one or two times I could have nearly appeared as a Karen on a video, when Tesco couldn't explain why something that was supposed to be random chose me nearly every single time. My husband had had pneumonia three times the year before covid, after a lifetime of lung problems, so he was really frightened he'd die if he caught it. I was doing everything I could to protect him. Since then, I've had covid twice (once leaving me partially paralysed), but I've still managed to keep him safe.

I do wish people wouldn't use the name 'karen' i have lovely friends who have the name karen and they are now ashamed of there name, and some have even thought about changing there name, people now just take the micky out of them, especially when they tell someone there name for the first time. These people are angry, spoilt, inconsiderate, idiots who think people owe them something for nothing and shoving a camera in people's faces isnt going to calm the situation down, but my guess is none of these people's are actually named Karen

British alcohol licences are quite restrictive. If Tesco is turning people away, they might be in breach and lose their licence.

A fully grown man was filming them. Aside from that we don't know the context. What else did he do that provoked that reaction, do you think? I'm inclined to sympathise with the girls until I know why that incident kicked off.

I think the first guy might have a learning disability of some type, he reminds me of some of the people i work with. If this is the case then it's not really fair to laugh at a guy who doesn't seem to have the social skills to deal with an admittedly annoying situation like this.

The English need to do something about parking as they don't have driveways. Therefore the currrent house owner is the only person entitled to a park in front of their residence. My advice is ignore a Karen, say nothing and avoid any contact.
@wasspj
@wasspj 11 ай бұрын
I assume that you've never been to England. Lots of houses have driveways, probably most, and unless the council have imposed parking restrictions, anybody is entitled to park on a public street, and where there are restrictions, anyone with the correct permit can park anywhere on that street. None of which is relevant, because she was parking on their driveway (which apparently doesn't exist.)
